I just got out of the cinema.
Reylo is a go, all right.
However... and do NOT read this until you've seen the film yourself... I mean it!

Just go out from the theaters. And Tbh, I am embarassed. I'll really have to watch that movie a second time
- Don't read if you don't want to know:
- Honestly, I didn't like that movie much although I'm all for dramatic ending and I'll tell you why later, when more people have seen it

- Spoiler:
- I really don't want to influence your judgement on the movie but there are a lot of things that make me sceptical about the movie. So I'll try not to spoil but there are actually a lot of things that disturb me right now. Maybe my expectations were too high although I was prepared for "dramatic" ending. So I'll have to work on this and this includes:
1) There is no real plot progression and worse no character development
2) We don't learn much about the origins of the Force and the Jedi.
3) No major stake behind the battles outside the idea of crashing the Resistance
4) Personally, I didn't manage to emphasize with the characters, their struggles and their emotions, especially Kylo's whose background is barely explained.
I'll give further details when people have seen the movie and we can analyze it in detail

In my case, it's because... and once again, I advise anyone NOT to read this because I don't want my opinion to influence anyone beforehand.
- Spoiler:
It was literally pointless. There was no plot. There was no character development. The events of the film were largely pointless. It made TFA pointless. Star Wars and its core values became pointless. Everything was pointless and after a good start I just found my investment evaporating and finally about midway through I had to admit to myself that the whole story had imploded.
The story wasn't about anyone or anything. No themes were really explored. Characters were nothing, with the exception of Finn and Rose. Everything, totally pointless.

Re: The Last Jedi: Our Reviews and Reactions
Thanks for the replies.
- Spoiler:
I'll still see the film and come to my own conclusion, but considering both have voice similar complaints, the film sounds a bit like filler based on those. I wonder is TLJ will suffer TFA 'post-new SW bliss' and having more critical opinions later from the GA and reviewers ( barring the obvious No ReySky/Reylo is real complaints )

So TLJ is like Guardian of the Galaxy 2 for you two. GOTG2 had the same problem with no real plot and no character development too, also the romance between StarLord and Gamora is boring and uninteresting. At least TLJ is a skinship fest of Reylo lol
- Spoiler:
I haven't seen that one so I don't know. But I just found myself watching in disbelief as I saw all depth and heart sucked out of the story as it progressed. It wasn't exactly boring or uninteresting, it's just that nothing meant anything.
But it's probably just me. I hope it's just me. I don't want SW to fail.

- I haven't seen Guardian of the Galaxy so I can't compare. But tbh, I expected shocking things that would have an added-value to the plot, especially in regard to the origins of the Force. It seems like people who were around likes TLJ but it doesn't seem like they analyzed much TFA since they considered TFA as a (poor) remake of ANH. But for someone like me who analyzed TFA in deep, I came out from the theaters having the impression that I saw a long and dense movie with too many things with little plot and character progression.

Re: The Last Jedi: Our Reviews and Reactions
As for Reylo, (previous disclaimers still apply)
- Spoiler:
It was overtly romantic (or at least sexy), yes, and the scene is set for them to hook up in IX. There's no doubt they will, whether they get a happy ending or not (my guess would be not, but who knows).
But the problem is I no longer care. Perhaps they'll explore Ben's character more in IX but nothing was explained in this one. His backstory was, well, sad - or at least maybe it was, the film literally just scratched the surface?? I mean Luke meant to murder his nephew just for thinking bad thoughts but this wasn't explored at all - but his motivations are still a complete mystery. Perhaps he doesn't have any? Who the **** knows at this point.
Where did Snoke come from? The FO? Who knows. What does Kylo want? Who knows. What does anyone want? Who knows.
It was exactly the sort of Reylo I did NOT want because Rey's arc revolved solely around being Force-seduced by the alluring bad boy and then looking at him in disappointment as he failed her.
I can't believe nothing was explored. No themes, no Jedi lore, nothing. Like, wtf? Even the destiny thing was a hoax. If there is some kind of a shared destiny they have, it'll be left to IX to explore. The Force bond was just a plot device to enable those UST scenes. Nothing more.

I mean,
- Spoiler:
nothing makes any sense without his motivation. Why is he doing what he's doing? If the explanation were "for unlimited powahhh", then ok. But nothing implies that his motivation is unlimited powahhh. It seems like he doesn't have any, beyond some vague idea about bringing "order" to the galaxy, which doesn't tie in with his backstory at all. His uncle almost kills him, so he becomes obsessed with tyrannical order? Ok. Neat.

Same impression Darth! I wanted to ask you in PM if you got the same feeling as me
I think I really need to rewatch it a second time, because I was already nervous: when I rewatch a movie, my opinion tend to evolve with the analysis but tbh it is far from the nice surprise I had watching TFA. I won't change my mind about TFA: people may still think it is only a poor remake of ANH, I consider that the plot was good, the characters were well portrayed, the music was awesome, some scenes were really emotional and intense. This isn't the feeling I got from my first viewing of TFA.
Basically, this is visually thrilling film that adds nothing to the plot outside from a big twist by the end. But honestly I was frustrated that they made the movie so long to get so few information: all that for that. The Force? We don't learn much about it. Snoke? Nothing about his background and not even how he corrupted Ben. Luke? Just depressed because he intended to kill Ben because Ben had already turned. Rey? We don't know why she dreamed of the island. Nothing is explained about how she got this incredible FS within her and how she is able to fight as good as Ben without any kind of training. People will call her a Mary Sue even more after that. The Force Bond? Outside from a beautiful scene (that you'll recognize), they way she emphasizes with Kylo happens just too fast. She emphasizes with him much too fast after saying "Kylo failed you". She says that she saw his future but the viewer doesn't see it so can't relate. And yeah, I would say that I just didn't feel it outside this "beautiful"scene and another "poignant" scene, I wouldn't say that Reylo is dead but seriously compromised. From my side, Rian didn't manage so well to make me emphasize with the character's struggles and emotions.

We finally learn the truth about her parents but we still don't know what is so special with her. The Force Bond? Just a bait to get the girl into a trap and the girl stupidly falls into it. Honestly, just like you guys, I also have the same reaction. TLJ is a Reylo feast, it's very romance-centric. Rian really shows you how much he loves his sweetheart (aka. Kylo) and Reylo. Basically, the main plot point of TLJ is Rey and Kylo sensually explore each other while the world burns in any way possible (including reducing the other plotlines and characters to the blandness). And Adam's acting just reaches an insane level of phenomenon, it's so powerful to the point that the audiences and critics couldn't do anything except drool over him and give TLJ 8.5 points on Metacritic (Americans' harshest critic site)!. Even my straight male friend has to admit that Adam is just so alluring in TLJ. It sounds like a Reylo smutty fic, but yes it's TLJ. I have to admit that half of me loves it so much because we freaking deserve it after 2 years of being abused by antis and toxic fanboys), while the other half feels so conflicted by the way Rian handles the other aspects of SW.
I haven't seen the movie yet (Tomorow...tomorrow) but since TFA did nothing for me to care about other aspects of SW outside of Reylo, I won't take it against Rian that he couldn't do better with characters who were beyond salvaging already. TFA dropped the ball on everyone but these 2 cause it tried to play too close to OT and thus giving us bland knock-offs (Poor Man's Rebellion, Poor Man's Han, Poor Man's Empire, etc). Rian smartly focused on the only aspect of TFA that was bold and different and ran away with it while the rest chugged along cause it couldn't have done anything else given TFA cluster.

Re: The Last Jedi: Our Reviews and Reactions
- Spoiler:
- Sorry to hear that you guys didn't enjoy it as much as you'd hoped.
I think I really liked it, but I need to see it again before giving it a score. I do have some initial pros and cons though:
Pros:
- Spoiler:
- Reylo!
It's a beautiful move. The visuals are amazing.
I loved Luke's arc. The ending was perfect and this is coming from someone who hated projection Luke when it first leaked.
The Resistance plot line with the dwindling fuel and resources reminded me of Battlestar Galactica and that's awesome.
Leia and Holdo's last scene almost broke me.
Great action scenes.
I loved how they managed to make me care about Paige when she was on screen for like 30 seconds. Well done!
Rose was a very sweet addition.
Hux. I love to hate him.
Cons
- Spoiler:
- Why did they need to go overboard with the mystique around Snoke? If they had just kept him as an evil dude without adding some vague hints to a greater mystery it would have been just fine. Now he's a bit of a let down.
Thought the Force mysteries would be more important but they weren't.
Phasma is underwhelming again.
Superman Leia. I get what they were going for but it looked unintentionally funny.
Rose and Finns story was sweet but completely unnecessary for the plot. It feels like it was just there as a setup for Finnrose.

- Spoiler:
- That's all fine and dandy, but Rian seriously dropped the ball with Rey and Kylo as well, so what's left?
The only part of TLJ that moved me at all was Finn and Rose, which is why it's such a shame that their plotline was kind of pointless in the larger scheme of things (but then, everything in TLJ was kind of pointless). I expected to cry at Luke's passing (I cried in advance when it was accidentally spoiled to me), but no, I was just staring with a wtf look on my face.
Now that my first shock is wearing off, I'm utterly horrified with what I just saw. Reylo could have been such an epic, moving, meaningful story. I can't believe instead we got a Reylo that's better in gif format than as an actual film. Sexy gifs, meaningless story. Even the Force bond was meaningless in the end.
What are people seeing in this film? Have I lost my mind? Is that it? Or is it a case of Renperor's new clothes?
