Taiki Waititi-Directed SW Movie

It's been rumored for a while, but now confirmed, Taika is doing a SW movie. No idea if this is related to the Feige or Rian movies. He is co-writing with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, would you look at that, a female screenwriter. Also confirms in the Leslye Hedland show.

Unfortunately Ragnarok destroyed the Thor franchise for me, but then again he did direct the Mandalorian so....
Movie wise he specialises in comedies, so if anyone wants a mature, more cerebral movie, I doubt if they'll get it.

Well, just because he has directed more comedies, it doesn’t mean he can’t do cerebral. The best hard rock bands out there created slow songs that became hits. I am not a Marvel fan and I liked Thor Ragnarok because it was less “oh, everyone makes their dramatic face now because it’s yet again the end of the world” and more fun. “What we do in the shadows” is a comedy but sarcastic and dark, nothing for kids. I haven’t seen “Jojo Rabbit”, but based on what I heard, it was a good reflection on darker times in Europe. His movies are not void of messages and there’s nothing wrong with adding fun especially in a Star Wars movie. And let’s not forget that he is friends with RJ. So I will chose to believe in him.

Jojo Rabbit isn't good. There will be time when people will admit it isn't a good movie but maybe not now. It's a tonal mess that Waititi didn't know how to keep under control. He's better at keeping one tone than shifting between them.

Well, I sincerely wish him luck although I have zero faith in next SW big projects. The fish is rotten from the head down. I want a solid touching story, and I dont need cool empty aesthetics and cool moments without it.

Not exactly the right thread, but I have to say this - they had a poll on another forum to find the most popular character in SW. Han Solo won. Guess who was a very close second?

Despite JJ, Terrio and everyone else insisting it was all about The Twins and their adopted Palpatine, the characters the audience loved the most are the Solos. Who DLF have done everything to erase.
