I'll be honest, I had never heard of Russian Doll before this, but people say it's great and had all female writers and directors. At least this person looks experienced, unlike the recent shifts in Obi-Wan writers. There's also been a couple more casting announcements for Cassian, which I forgot to mention before, I had almost thought that show just might not happen. And Favreau just said the other day that there's been Mando season 3 scripts for a while and they're doing preproduction. SW TV is very busy, I'm really not confident there will actually be a movie in 2022. Goodness knows SW, especially it's shows, need more female presence. And it's at some other point in the timeline, which is also really necessary after three shows in the vicinity of the OT.

This is exciting!

I am beginning to doubt the existence of the 2022 movie, also. If there is no word about it at Celebration (truthfully, I think it will be cancelled because of COVID-19, yet if there is not an announcement in August about the movie), until proven otherwise, I think they decided against movies until ~2024.

@SW_Heroine_Journey Honestly I think a lot of people are burned out from SW movies, but SW TV is still novel to many, and still has goodwill. And D+ needs as much content as they can get. I'm fine if they stick to shows for a while.

I agree 100%.  

I'm now thinking 2024 may be too early.  Then again, that will be the 5 year marker since TRoS; however, if they personally want a 5 year break since TRoS to even begin pre-production, that probably translates to no movie until 2026, at the earliest. Of course, if there is a film announcement this year for 2022, I stand corrected, all (audience and DLF) probably need a vacation from movies though.

Good explanations, I guess (though it shows how inane the writing was if you have to find out from other media), but honestly it leaves me cold.
I'm just not invested in Rey as a character any more, whether they ever get Daisy back or continue in comics or book format.

I can't help but think what a missed opportunity Finn/Poe was.

There seems to be an Indiana Jones fetish with SW these days. TROS tried to rip it off, now this. As they've completely destroyed the films I guess tv is the way forward now for Disney/Lucasfilm.
