Hello everyone!

Yesterday we discovered that our host, Forumotion, put a limit to the number of posts a thread can contain: 990 messages maximum. When it is reached, the original thread locks and the conversation automatically continues in a new one.

Therefore, we decided to create a new public forum -the "Archive Forum"- that will be used to gather all those locked threads (found in the main page). Everyone will thus be able to consult the indexed locked threads.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

We have some announcements in regards to changes in our team of moderators:

Ohtze and FrolickingFizzgig have moved on from their role of moderators. We are very grateful to both of them for their help during the earliest stages of our community building, and we wish them all the best. We are happy to announce that both are going to continue on as members of the forum.

AnneNeville has announced that she will be leaving the team by the end of the month as well, and we will be very sad to see her go when the time comes but we have her with us for the time being.

Greetings everyone,

We want to remind our users that bashing is not permitted here. Specifically bashing of each other, of other ships/fandoms/communities, of actors and characters is not allowed. Over time we have noticed a gradual surge in some of these behaviors, and we have been getting complaints from multiple users, both inside and outside of this forum. While we do our best to avoid over-moderation and only intervene when necessary, moving forward we will be taking a firmer stance in order to ensure that we have a safe, positive environment for everyone to partake in.

To clarify: we continue to welcome critical thinking, healthy debate and discussion of opposing views - as long as ideas are conveyed in a manner that is respectful.

We all love Reylo but we are not a hive mind. Our diversity and difference of opinion is part of what makes us unique and interesting. We want a community where all are free to speak their opinion, but that needs to be balanced with respect of other people's right to disagree.

Thank you for your time, and please do not hesitate to message one of the staff if you have any questions. We're glad to help!

Hello everyone!

For personal reasons (understand: mainly assignments) I'm no longer around much. I thus preferred to transfer the ownership to @Darth Rowan and @MoonlitMoss who accepted it. I wanted to tell you guys that I really love our community, we've been through so much together and now here we are, stonger than ever. And as we can see, the potential spoilers are definitely developing our way (is anyone surprised?). Don't worry I'm not disappearing, I'll always be lurking -somehow. Each one of you plays a part in keeping this community alive, and I'm glad to see that this website has become a friendly and convivial space. May Reylo become "canon", and may the Force be with you! We are happy to announce that Darth_Awakened has joined our staff as moderator!

Due to an increase in our numbers and the resulting higher level of activity in our threads, we are also implementing a new no-spam/no back-to-back posting policy that had not been necessary until now. We are expecting more traffic going forward as the date of The Last Jedi release nears, and while we're glad to see our community growing it will mean having to make some adjustments that weren't needed in a smaller group.

Dear Reylo Skyforum Community,

We want to let you know about some important changes affecting our staff and our forum.

We have been preparing for the rush of spoilers we can expect to hit the fandom in the weeks leading to the general release of The Last Jedi on December 15, 2017, and the expected initial screenings in the week of Friday December 8, 2017.

We are aware of the concerns of members who would like to remain active in the forum in the weeks prior to the TLJ film premiere, but who would also like to be shielded from spoilers. We also would like to consider those fortunate enough to see TLJ as early as possible, and who would like to be able to discuss all aspects of the film with their peers in the forum who are so inclined.

In order to meet the needs of our community, we would like to announce a forum reconfiguration as follows:
Starting on the week of November 24, 2017 we will open the following sub-forums for discussion of The Last Jedi:
The Last Jedi: MOVIE SPOILERS DISCUSSION Sub-Forum
The Last Jedi/Episode 9 Speculation: NO MOVIE SPOILERS ALLOWED Sub-Forum

The TLJ Movie Spoilers Discussion Sub-Forum will contain threads/topics for detailed discussion of events in the film and future directions of the story and fandom, including discussion of meta/cinematography/plot, reviews and fan reactions, podcasts, fanart/fanfiction, media articles, Tweets and other social media items. Confirmed spoilers originating from the movie will abound in this sub-forum.

The No Movie Spoilers Allowed TLJ/Episode 9 Sub-Forum will be a movie spoiler-free zone. It will still welcome in depth speculation about The Last Jedi and beyond.

This forum will have a thread/topic called The Last Jedi Q&A, where forum members wishing to access specific spoilers prior to personally seeing TLJ may interact with forum members who have seen the film in order to asks questions that will be answered under a spoiler tag.
Aside from the Q&A thread, no information originating from the movie will be allowed in the No Movie Spoilers TLJ/Episode 9 sub-forum. That includes meta/general discussion/fanart/fanfiction/Tweets and other social media posts.

Approximately 6-8 weeks following the release of The Last Jedi, once everyone has had the opportunity to see the film, we will plan to merge both TLJ discussion sub-forums into one, and will open a separate Episode 9 Speculation Sub-Forum. Until they are merged, our staff will carefully monitor both TLJ discussion sub-forums in order to assist our forum members in keeping spoilers from making their way to the spoiler-free areas.

We also have some important staff changes to share with you at this time.
We announce that @IoJovi, @ISeeAnIsland and @Darth_Awakened have stepped down from our staff after serving with dedication. We want to express deep gratitude and appreciation for them and what they have done for our staff and our forum.

IoJovi joined our staff on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, and ISeeAnIsland joined us on Thursday September 1, 2016. Long before that, they had already been an integral part of our community, helping to build this forum from the ground up after our group migrated from other less welcoming parts of the galaxy. Darth_Awakened was with our staff a short while, but has been a core member of our community since joining our ranks. We are happy to announce that they will continue on in the forum.

As we say goodbye to our former moderators, we welcome new members to our staff.

We are happy to announce an update in our display, courtesy of our IT expert, that will hopefully make our tagging process simpler and more user friendly:

The "MENTION" button has replaced the "MULTI-QUOTE" button.

You will now see a "MENTION" button next to the usual "QUOTE" button on the upper right-hand corner of posts: Official Announcements Mentio10

Use this button to instantly tag the author of a post without quoting the text of their post.
This function will be especially useful when tagging users with "composed" names, which require straight quotation marks in order to tag. See below:

As a reminder, you'll find more "How To's" that will simplify and improve your experience at the forum in our User Manual. In the coming weeks we are going to be updating the manual to include more simplified instructions and screenshots.

Hello everyone!

Earlier today there was a screening of the first 10 minutes of The Last Jedi to press and select fans in Mexico. For that reason we decided to work overtime in order to speed up our plans to ~~build a Death Star~~ implement two distinct areas for TLJ discussion:

The new sub-forum called The Last Jedi Discussion: MOVIE SPOILERS is the place to discuss everything pertaining to the new film, including spoilers.
The former TLJ sub-forum is now called NO MOVIE SPOILERS: The Last Jedi and Episode IX Speculation. The conversation there can continue as usual, but without movie spoilers.

Going forward please be mindful to note if you are in the spoiler-free TLJ forum, or in the area for spoiler discussion and adjust your posting content accordingly.

We hope these changes will be helpful for those who wish to continue visiting the forum without getting spoiled for TLJ, and also to those who wish to discuss spoilers freely. As usual, if you have any questions or concerns please PM any of the staff.

Dear all, we want to make an important clarification of what is permitted here in terms of name-checking users on other platforms. For purposes of protecting people's privacy and avoiding online targeting, please see our rules:

Citing and naming other users and platforms

Mention of other Star Wars forums by name and copy-lifting of posts made in other Star Wars forums is not permitted.

Discussion and naming of specific users on any of other platform (forums, reddit, Tumblr, Twitter) is prohibited as it is considered a violation of privacy. This excludes public figures, entertainers, cast/crew, news sites, journalists, authors, educators and content creators such as podcasters.

Tweets and other social media posts by public figures, entertainers, cast/crew, news sites, journalists, authors, educators and content creators such as podcasters can be shared without redaction. Tweets and social media posts belonging to regular users on those platforms must be redacted to obscure the identity of the original poster.

A user on another non-forum platform can be credited/cited if their content is being shared for purpose of information/discussion (i.e., non-bashing purposes), but the user shall not be the subject of discussion - only the content.

Tl;dr:

You can mention content creators/entertainers/educators/authors/public figures by name, but you cannot bash them.
You cannot mention regular users (i.e., regular people) from other platforms by name here unless you are citing/crediting them - i.e., sharing fanart or sharing meta. In that case the user should not be the subject of discussion here, only the material shared.
If you are sharing a Tweet or social media post by someone who is not a public figure, you must blur the name/identity of the user.

Please take a moment to read the following updates:

Forum Staff:
We are happy to announce that Kessel has joined our moderator team! We will continue expanding our team in the coming months to keep up with the rapid growth of our community as Reylo becomes more mainstream. (What a time to be alive! XD)

As we say hello to new mods we say goodbye (for now) to panki, who is currently taking a break from the forum. She was part of the first group of moderators that began serving the community in April 2016, and we are very grateful for her contribution.

Forum Structure:
It's been more than a month since the release of The Last Jedi, and it's time to merge our two TLJ sub-forums and create a space for Episode IX speculation. As of now there are no spoiler-free areas for TLJ discussion in the forum. If you haven't seen TLJ yet...it's time.

Please be aware that our staff are going through and merging duplicate or redundant threads, so you may see some shifting in the coming days.

Forum Expansion:
With the release of TLJ and the GA's acknowledgement of Reylo(!), we have added more than 100 members (!) to our community in the last 5 weeks. Welcome to all of our new members!

New threads:
As always we welcome discussion and analysis, but we've noticed we've had a lot of duplicate threads created over the last weeks. We'd like to remind everyone that the search tool in the top right corner of the page is a quick way of looking up existing threads on any given topic. Please make sure to check if a thread already exists before creating one. If you want to suggest a thread but aren't sure if it is appropriate or needed please use the Suggestions Thread to discuss with the group.

Lastly, a word on multi-shipping and conduct outside of the forum:

Our community's stance on multi-shipping is "ship and let ship", and we do not support or condone any sort of "anti" behavior or trolling/bullying of supporters of other fandoms or ships.
Our forum is a Reylo community and not a place for shipping of other pairings - still, it's important to remember that we are not a cult or a hive-mind. It goes without saying that all of our forum members are free to ship as they wish offsite.
We respect our members' privacy and are not interested in monitoring anyone's behavior outside of this community. In the past we have received report from users at other SW communities regarding the behavior of our members, or from forum members concerned about things noted on other platforms. In general we are of the mind that people are free to do as they wish elsewhere. The exception to that is as follows: Reylo Skyforum members posting anti-Reylo content or engaging in bullying or targeting of other forum members offsite cannot expect to remain in good standing in our community.

Hello everyone!

With the influx of new members thanks to TLJ's release, the forum is growing quickly... which means, on the other hand, that the mods have more work to do.

In the last few weeks, however, we have noticed a lot of double/triple-posting in the same threads for many members. Therefore, we would like to remind you all that double/triple-posting is to use as little as possible, in order to ease the staff's job while moderating the threads.

The intention is not to limit your interaction with other forum members, of course: however, please note that the "mention" and "quote" button can be used more than once in a post. You may refer to this thread for information on how to use them, and the staff is open to hear any question you may have about these functions.

We want you to be aware that the policy on "as little double/triple-posting as possible" will be reinforced, and if the staff notices double/triple-posting that could have been avoided, the 2nd/3rd post will be deleted. The presentation of your posts is your responsibility as a member and you cannot ask for the mods to edit all your messages in one post, since we all have lives of our own behind the screens.

As always, the staff's inboxes are always open for any question you may have - because don't worry, we don't bite. Wink

Dear Reylo Friends,

As you may have noticed, there have been quite a few technical glitches and undesired changes on our forum's platform over the past several weeks. The background for this is that Forumotion recently decided to implement various changes in order to increase their profit.

Some of the changes by Forumotion are as follows:

ALL domain names at Forumotion were changed to include "forumotion.com".
Customized domain names now require a fee.
SSL certificates require a fee.
Features like ad-block were previously offered as individual features that could be purchased on a yearly basis. Now all single features are offered in "packages" at triple the cost.

In response to these updates, the staff at Reylo Skyforum have implemented the following measures:

We have purchased the "premium package" (i.e., the top of the line one with all the bells and whistles) for one year.
We have purchased an SSL certificate.
We purchased a customized domain name. We switched from the newly assigned reylo.forumotion.com to the customized reyloskyforum.net.
We renewed ad-block and opted to not activate the option to monetize the forum in order to keep this site completely ad-free.
We intend to renew our "premium package" next year to maintain our special features, including our customized domain name.

What You Need to Know:

Our domain name has changed. We are now REYLOSKYFORUM.NET. If you try to load our old domain name reylo.skyforum.net, you will receive an error message.
With our domain name change, your browser's password auto-recovery option may have been reset. If you've been locked out of your account please contact the staff through our gmail account reylo.forum@gmail.com or by clicking CONTACT in the bottom right corner of this page. We will send an email to all of our members shortly reminding them of the above.
With the multiple changes to the platform, there may be some glitches over the coming days/weeks that may require further problem-solving. You can PM one of the staff members or post in our Technical Issues thread to request support.
With the platform changes/domain name change, some internal hyperlinks may not work. The staff are working to update these hyperlinks to include the new domain name, which will get them working again. As you probably know we have also lost our customized "Likes" notification system, and are still trying to get it back up and running.
Our current domain name, SSL certificate and ad-block function will be valid for at least one year before they require updating. The site will not be monetized in order to maintain an ad-free environment.

We hope this helps to clarify matters and that it provides some context for the unfortunate changes that have taken place in our site over the last weeks. We are hoping things will get back to working order shortly and we apologize for all of the inconvenience.

We wanted to make you aware of a situation that has thankfully been resolved. Recently our forum was unfortunately named in a series of messages targeting a non-Reylo user on social media. After investigating the matter we were able to confirm that the social media user behind the targeting messages identifies as pro-Reylo but is not affiliated with this forum in any way.

Our community is built on respect for persons as much as it is built on shared love of Reylo. We want to remind all of our members and guests that our community in no way endorses the harassment, targeting or bullying of people on any platform, regardless of their affiliations or opinions.

In addition, we want to request that our members avoid involving the forum in any way when engaging in offsite fandom conflict or behavior that could reflect badly on this community. That includes naming the forum, discussing the forum, or identifying oneself and others as forum members while participating in offsite fandom conflict of any kind. We hope you understand our reasons for wanting to distance ourselves from inter-platform fandom drama.

Lastly, while we respect our members' right to do as they see fit offsite, we also want to request that those Reylo Skyforum members who choose to identify as such in other platforms consider themselves ambassadors of our community to other Star Wars fans and to the general public.

We'd like to let you know that SheLitAFire has stepped down from the staff due to RL commitments. We are sad to see her go, but fortunately she will remain a part of our community. We're very grateful to her for her awesome work and wish her continued success.

Things are slower at the forum now that the initial TLJ craze has died down, but we are still looking to expand our moderating team. Stay tuned for more updates!

Dear Reylo Skyforum Community,

As we are all aware unfortunately the Star Wars fandom has seen a surge of negativity and division in recent months. People have turned against each other, often harshly criticizing each other because of having even minor differences of opinion. A lot of this is playing out on social media.

Over the past months we have also seen a sharp increase of social media content being shared and discussed on this platform, often negatively. To some extent that is understandable, given that there is a lull in news and new Star Wars content and not much going on that is positive these days. Still, it's disheartening to see our community slowly change. We came together to celebrate Star Wars and Reylo, and now it seems we are increasingly united by criticism of others.

Let's try our best to maintain a positive environment that can offer us some respite from the negativity out there. With that goal in mind we want to encourage everyone to please minimize the sharing of social media posts for purposes of criticism. Please continue to share social media posts for purposes of news/updates or celebration of Star Wars.

We also want to remind you that per our Code of Conduct, our policy for sharing social media posts is as follows:

If you have uploaded a screenshot of someone else's content without disguising their identity please remove it, make the necessary adjustments and upload again. If it's a negative thing consider just removing it.

Dear Reylo Skyforum Community,

We have some announcements regarding our team of moderators:
Irina de France and SkyStar have left our team, but we are happy to say that they are going to continue on as members of the forum. We are very grateful to them for their excellent work during their time with our staff.

We are happy to announce that our mod team has expanded to include Moonlight13, cherrylipstick, and whisperingwillow. Please welcome them in their new roles as moderators. We are working to have a full team on staff in preparation for the uptick in fandom activity once filming for IX begins; as we know things are currently quiet at the forum, which reflects what is going on in the larger Reylo fandom, but we don't expect that will continue once "spoilers" and "leaks" start coming out. When the flood comes our team will be ready. Thumbs up

Dear Reylo friends,

I would like to share some great news: I've asked @Darth Dementor to join the administrative team for our forum, and he has accepted. ^^

Darth Dementor first joined our staff as a moderator on April 13, 2016. From the beginning he has done excellent work serving the community, and he's always been one of our most approachable staff members. He's been cool-headed in times of crisis, always kind, and always thinking of our community's best interests. I have no doubt that he will continue to serve with dedication, and am very happy that he has agreed to be my co-admin.

I want to say a little more about the situation we've been in for the past 15 months, because I know it has been troubling to some of our members; I've had more than one person reach out to me over the past year worrying about what would happen to the forum if something were to happen to me as the only admin - honestly that concern reflects how important this community has become to all of us. <3

To be honest while it is tremendously rewarding, the responsibility and stress level of being an admin was high enough when there were three of us - it was never my wish to shoulder that alone. Because our community is made up of amazing people there's never been a shortage of great moderators on our staff, but unfortunately things were not aligned for anyone to join the admin team sooner due to various factors - namely lack of availability in RL (as in Darth Dementor's case previously), as well as people who would have been a great fit as admin eventually leaving the staff, and some who were approached declining the role because of the level of commitment required (I can't say I fault them).

At this time thankfully everything has fallen into place. The irony of this timing is that we're in a lull currently, but I have no doubt that the forum's activity level will see an uptick once filming for episode IX begins, and especially as we get closer to 2019. Now that we have a full team in place we can also think of actively growing our community, which is something that we had not been in a position to do previously.

I want to thank everyone who is part of this community for making it a safe haven for Reylos to gather in order to share their amazing insights, their unique point of view and sense of humor, and most of all to give each other support and build friendships. Hopefully we can continue to be that through 2019 and beyond, now with a more complete administrative team in place.
