I know, as I said I was sure it was FAF BECAUSE it's him.....
But TROS was so ridiculous nothing surprises me these days.

Some time ago I was contributing to a newspaper website, everyone was having a fun discussion about what to watch during lockdown. Eventually the topic came to SW, and almost immediately one lady started with the 'Kylo is a sex abuser' claims. I tried to reason with her. She accused me of defending sex abusers - she and her wife were victims as children. I tried to explain I was twice indecently assaulted as a child. She then accused me of being in denial, and told me I shouldn't like SW or Kylo Ren.
In the end I told her "we'll have to agree to disagree" and never responded to anything else she directed at me. Which she did, even when I was discussing other topics with other posters. I'm sorry these ladies endured what they did, but it doesn't give them the excuse to insult and harass people for simply not seeing things they way they do. At the end of the day it's just a fantasy film.

Ironically the abuse victim in the ST is Kylo, not Rey. Rey was neglected but not abused.

Even the author of the Winternight books so many Reylos love (they actually are great) dragged TROS. And then Jason Fry responded lol. The crossover I didn't know I needed.

It's all fun and games, but at the end of the day, it's also pretty obvious that this film is universally seen as pants.
The only ones in denial are Disney themselves.
The refuse to accept that they:
Pandered to a handful of toxic bigots, and retconned a film, which, love it or hate it, was universally critically acclaimed and took SW in a fresh new direction
Hired a third rate writer with a bad track record
Allowed said writer, and director, to put their own fanfiction on screen
Completely regressed the character arcs of all their characters
Treated half their cast appallingly
Deliberately ignored public opinion and killed off their most popular character
And finally.....
Ended a forty two year old saga on the most depressing end note they could have

In short, they've made a colossal c*****. And aren't doing themselves any favours by refusing to admit it

Supposedly Blue Ray sales are terrible. They'll blame covid-19 of course but still.

No way is it Covid19 when you can buy dvds online.
It's funny, but they could easily do some work on the dvd/blu ray releases.
Remove or add footage, put a few things back in, take a few things out, bring back Ben Solo, and release a special edition version with a better ending. It would still be an inferior film, but I suspect quite a few Ben/Kylo fans would buy it if it had a happy, more optimistic ending. Especially those who have kids that were upset.
But they won't because the idiots are firmly convinced that it already HAS a happy ending. That is what's so mind-blowingly pathetic about DLF's attitude. They are entrenched in the mind set that killing off the last of the real Skywalkers is cool because someone else has taken the name, and having the heroine end up completely alone is also cool because she's got fancy superpowers and a new lightsabre.

Their message for women is "it's okay girls, it's fine to have no one because you're powerful."
Which is exactly the opposite of what Rian did with Ben in TLJ and George with Anakin in ROTS. What's the point of ultimate power if you're alone?

Fine if you're a woman, apparently.

It appears it collapsed with all sales, once it became available for "free" (relatively speaking) on Disney+. (It's no longer in the top 20 for iTunes)

On Disney+, per their trending row, it's the #1 viewed item on there, so people don't mind watching it a lot for "free" (or cheap - i.e. when it was a rental) but the majority do not want to spend too much to own it (including digital sales). This is encouraging because these are the only statistics that Disney will look to (and they can't blame Covid for all of it, because other movies are performing well in Blue Ray and digital sales, including their own).

Couple of theories here, it's .... interesting but only makes TROS more cringeworthy....at least for me!

@motherofpearl1 I can't believe it either. They really did hire a writer whose main claim to fame was a universally panned superhero movie.

Last week, I finally re-upped my Disney+ to watch the last season of Clone Wars. It reminded me that despite the problems the prequels had with bad dialogue and bad CGI, they told a compelling, believable, emotional story of Anakin's downfall. And Filoni's enrichment and backfill of that story in the Clone Wars series is very well done. You really get a sense of how the Jedi got tricked into being soldiers, and that's how they got compromised. The sense of loss and regret Ahsoka feels over this made me think of Ben Solo, and how he's been trained by Luke and Snoke, and how Leia's trying to do the same thing with Rey. And how Luke, in ROTJ, throws away his lightsaber and refused to be a pawn in Palpatine's game. And then does it again when his training of Ben goes wrong. Filoni gets it - he understands that Ben and Rey have to throw their lightsabers away and hug it out.

And they had this guy on their staff and went with the J.J. Terrio dudebro team. I feel like that whole idea flew right over J.J. and Terrio's heads, plus it seems like they were either not interested in or actively opposed to the framework that Filoni and the story group had worked out - a framework that The Mandalorian fits into, a framework that Rogue One and Solo also fit into, and I think TLJ fit into that also.

Imagine if they had let Filoni write the story and got Kasdan to script it. Well, that's the canon I'm going to live in.

I'm still working on my personal adaptation of TROS, but dang, it's looking like a Filoni/Kasdan collab.

It's as if they just wanted the Skywalker saga over so they could move on to the Project Luminous c***.
Why oh why all this fascination with the past? The PT and Clone Wars dealt with all that, the ST was to bring SW up to date. I'm not interested in the tired old Saga of the Jedi. We KNOW how their story ends. Even the Mandalorian, good as it is, is another story set in the past.

For me, I try not to imagine what could have been, it's just too heartbreaking...
Then again, I guess I've dealt with it all by just pulling back from 99% of my interest in SW. including no disney+, no clone wars..
For some, that would be too heartbreaking...

I guess by still visiting here from time to time, I'm demonstrating I have the smallest glimmer of hope left that SW could convince me to give it another go one day. Maybe if reylo fans start producing sw product one day..

The problem is not that they are moving to the past but that it is too close to the Prequel era. It's limiting creativity. They should go way into the past like the KotOR stories did, back in the day. LF should show us the creation of the Jedi Order, the Republic, the beginning of the Sith, what happen in the past that made them fight each other, the creation of the rule of two, the inventing of the hyperspace, etc. Instead we got Project Luminous that is too much connected to the Prequels, era when the Sith are working in the shadows and the Jedi hadn't heard about them for almost a millenium. LF show that the most important thing for them is diversity and representation, not the story itself.

Also they are still sticking to known eras because it's easy. if things don't go well, they can always pull popular characters from that era and insert into whatever needs help. And they are now doing it evn if something is a success. Like Mando. Season 2 sounds like a live action TCW.

That's some serious Disney Prince look. I love it that fans keep the character around. If Disney doesn't want it, who cares, there are fans and Disney didn't handle him that well anyway.

I always thought they weren't doing KOTOR/Old Republic as a book/comic series because there's too much potential money there in film, TV, and video games. Publishing projects ideally should be lower stakes, or appealing to a smaller group than bigger, more expensive mediums.

If they don't do the past, what else are they going to do? Legends jumped into the far future, it wasn't that great, and it just ended up boxing them in later on. The long-term repercussions aren't worth it.

Simply put, a plotter is someone who plans out their novel before they write it. A pantser is someone who, “flies by the seat of their pants,” meaning they don't plan out anything, or plan very little.
