I can recommend that over the 'adult' book; it's much more sympathetic to Kylo. What always stuck in my mind was the description of him having a 'young man's face, with an old man's eyes'. When AD first took off the mask I was struck by how unhappy he looked. Unlike Hux, whose expression was that of a true fanatic Kylo looked as if part of him wished he was a million miles away. The 'Dark Side' hadn't brought that young man any joy.

I noticed this awhile ago, but I gotta say it pleases me greatly that someone went through the effort of creating a gif for it.

I saved this to my phone and have discovered it has multiple uses is all different types of conversation.

Definitely multipurpose.

Kicking somebody in the nuts is likely a standard fight move in Jakku, so that's what he gets for picking a fight with her. He's actually lucky that she didn't kick him where he'd been shot. Or bite him like she did to Plutt's thugs.

I wonder if she was trying to kick his torso but he is so tall with long legs and a shorter torso and she is only so flexible to get power behind a push kick (I used to kickbox for exercise before being overtaken by age and infirmity ) She has good power behind it though. Hope he was wearing a cup.....

Wait, I'm confused.  Is everyone saying that she kicked him in the crotch?  Because I thought that she kicked him in the side/stomach/wherever it was that he was wounded from Chewie's bowcaster.

Yeah, same. In the actual movie, rather than than bts footage, her foot is a lot higher, so it is clearer I think. Though, now that I'm looking at it, it looks like her foot is on the other side of his stomach, the non-wounded side? idk whatever, I don't think "canonically" (hahaha "canonically") she was kicking him the crotch, unless that was an accident in one of the takes.

When I saw the movie in the theater, I thought she was actually kicking him in the chest.  Then, when I saw the behind the scenes footage, it looked like she was kicking him in the side where the bowcaster wound was, and I thought that maybe I just misinterpreted it as his chest because everything went by so fast.  And then I also thought it would seem more vicious if she were deliberately kicking him where he was already wounded, so I figured that maybe that's what they were going for.  But in those screen caps you posted it does look like she's kicking him higher up, like in his chest, and yes, it does kind of look like the non-wounded side.

And OMG, I really hope she didn't accidentally kick him in the crotch during any of the takes!

Haha, well maybe it's foreshadowing because she did kick (and knock to the ground) one of Plutt's thugs while she was biting the other guy. The point definitely is that she's had to learn how to fight against bigger, stronger opponents in order to survive on Jakku. Same with shooting first - that's not a place where you'll survive if you stop to ask questions first. So there's a definite contrast made between the two of them in that fight.

Oh yes, the faces he's pulling are very suggestive. I don't really watch Girls so I didn't make the connection but I definitely noticed how sensual his expressions are here. The angle at which they are positioned is also interesting and similarly suggestive; in fact, this shot would resemble something else entirely if they weren't holding the lightsabers between them and were standing just a little bit closer.
