Luke literally grounded him in the best possible way. And it worked. The last shoot of Kylo shows it as clear as it can be.

Re: TLJ: Favourite Scenes
- I should say all Reylo scenes, even the most painful ("Please..." )
- Kylo sliding like a puppy
- Beefcake
- I loved the second forcebond scene very much, the one with the rain. I thought that Kylo/Adam was particularly attractive there
- Obviously the handsex, and that frame with fingers barely touching
- Snowwhite Rey in the coffin ad Prince Kylo
- the elevator scene
- The PG fight, visually stunning
- Kylo's hair, always, but more than ever during the fight
- Pride & Prejudice in Space and Mr Darcy/Kylo proposal. Good job kid!
- R2 and Luke and Leia's old message
- Yoda
- Rose words after she saved Finn
- the dices
and probably many more but now I don't remember all of them.

Re: TLJ: Favourite Scenes
I thought we had to choose only one? Which is mission impossible
The first one that jumps to my mind is the PG fight because it was a very strong headcanon of mine to see them fight alongside each other and boy, was it worth it.
The Snoke offing is fantastic. That sneaky pervert thought he was controlling his apprentice and Kylo turned that against him in the smartest way.
But then my mind jumps to the first force bond scene because especially Kylo behaves like a teenager and it’s the first time we probably see more of Ben. Someone mentioned the Risky Business slide, but then the drawing back his hand as if “ok, that was a bit dumb” and then being curious about what she can see.
But then if I have to choose really just one, it’s the plea to join him. That one broke my heart. The moment he starts with the idea of let it all die - and I do agree with him because I pretty much hate it all at that point -, you know she will refuse and it will go bad, really bad. But what I love and hate about it, because it leads to that very bleak end, is that it’s so Kyloesque in its tragedy. He starts calmly, it does not work so he impatiently pushes through because that’s the only way he knows how to react by telling Rey about her parents. Which she actually needs to hear. You will thank him later, Rey, or not because I have a bad feeling about the whole grey thing having become very black and white again at the end which is the biggest worry I have for IX. But then OTOH Kylo should maybe also listen to his own words as in “let it go, man”, you’re holding on to your past as much as she does. And then comes his heart-wrenching “please”.
Ok, that is all very Kylo-driven, I know. What can I say. Kylo fan ‘til the end.
I was surprisingly very moved by the Holdo-Leia farewell so kudos to the two.
And Paige’s death had me shiver. The reality of war. But also I was stunned by Poe shouting for the bombs knowing that it meant suicide. I still have a hard time to get over it actually because in that last Resistance scene in the MF I have zero compassion for anyone present except Rose - the space horse liberator and only true innocent.

Re: TLJ: Favourite Scenes
I loved all the Kylo and Rey scenes, obviously. They saved the movie in my eyes.
"Can you see my surroundings? I can't see yours. Only you."
"You have that same look in your eyes, from the forest."
"You're not alone." "Neither are you."
"You're nothing, but not to me."
I really liked DJ. I liked his message. Finn was feeling all superior and then DJ says everyone's a hypocrite. I'd be fine with DJ coming back.

Yeah, this is why I really don't get the "Luke doesn't care about Ben" thing. There's more than one way to show that you care about someone, and sometimes you have to use a little reverse-psychology. Luke's intervention wasn't about saving Kylo, it was about giving everybody another chance.
I'm not bothered by how they left Ben and Luke's relationship because this wasn't the time for the heartfelt reunion. The story ins't over yet.

All of this above
And the following stuff says it all:
Snoke: You've got too much of your father, young Solo
[Later]
Luke: None of what you just said is true [...] And I won't be the Last Jedi
Kylo: I'll destroy her...
Luke (reminiscing):
Luke: See you around, kid (for your wedding)
I must say I didn't like the scene at first because I found it so crual for Kylo but since I see why Rian did it this way and not another way. That was brillant to avoid the conventional lightsaber fight and let Luke die on the island. And we already know he'll be back somehow, maybe to follow Ben like Rey followed him on the island to bring him back

Those lines are so romantic! The way Adam says the word “you” in these scenes is so intimate, he really sells it.
I liked the DJ character- my only quibble is that the performance channeled Tom Waits so hard, I kept wishing they had just gone ahead and gotten the man to play the part.

It also enabled Ben to channel his rage to where it belonged - towards the uncle who had failed him.

Your signature. I can't.
Luke knew what was up. Now he gets to watch from a comfortable chair in the Force alongside his dad, Obi-Wan and Yoda as all the kids put the pieces back together.

That scene and the “more” scene grated me on my first viewing. I even wanted to look away because he looks utterly mad. You gotta give it to AD, he’s not afraid to go there. But now I like it and that quote “Blast that piece of junk out of the sky!” is definitively going in the Best TLJ quotes book. Was it “blast” or another verb? I have to see the movie again

@LadyHa Oh god totally, BdT was an ersatz Tom Waits. Although I did LOL over one review mentioning Poe and BB-8's reunion after the droid's dalliance with "evil Oscar Isaac."

And they should have first met Tom Waits/DJ not in jail, but playing that 1970s organ we briefly see being destroyed when the fathiers plow through the casino.
Oh, haha, I guess you mean this article which I hadn't seen, but I agree with all of it!

I felt literally nauseous and full of rage during those scenes and started putting on my coat because I wanted to run out of the cinema asap.
But clearly those are the scenes I most need to face again I intend to re-watch them so many times I no longer feel anything at all.

I was so mad at everyone BUT Kylo at that point that I was right there with him and his rage. I was like “BURN IT ALL DOWN!” But upon further viewings, I’m glad that he didn’t succeed with that
Luke’s plan was great, and I love how told Rey that it was ridiculous to think that he’d face down the whole FO with a laser sword, but that’s what he ended up doing...very cleverly.

Re: TLJ: Favourite Scenes
Agree with everyone's favourite scenes. Just wanted to highlight these two in particular:
-Kylo in his ship vs Leia: one of the most beautiful and emotional scenes for me. Leia's theme is one of the most emotional pieces of Star Wars music and to have that playing in the background as a son and his mother sense each other through the force with a match cut from Kylo's face to Leia... cinematic perfection.
-The second force bond scene: Rey's excited smile when she experiences the feel of rain for the first time was genuinely adorable. I loved how it matched the falling sparks in the hangar bay Kylo was overlooking. Beautiful visuals. Kylo looked very pretty here and I loved their dialogue too. It had a dangerous edge to it, and I loved the way Kylo slowly walked towards Rey with that look on his face. The rain dripping off his glove felt very sexually symbolic too. This film was very erotic and sensual yet subtle at the same time.

Of course he cares about Ben. I don't agree with the interpretation that he has just given up on him. He reassures Leia and admits his failure to Kylo. He helped him in his own way, by ensuring that his attention remained on him, saving the Resistance and the light in Ben. He knows what's going to go down, but hoping someone will change just because you want them to will never work. Ben has to genuinely want to change, and Luke knows he will. It just wasn't the time, but thanks to Luke's sacrifice he became part of the Force and will be able to impact things in ways he never could as a living being.
Yeah, but the scene is played all wrong. It came across as Luke scolding Kylo for the fanboys that hate him. It needed to be "You want me to give up on you. But I'm not going to."

Yesssss, it's possibly my top scene of the film. I adore the symmetry in this shot... I've looked at gifs of the scene and you can see just how balanced and in sync they are, considering they've only ever fought each other and never side by side. Almost like they're meant to be together
It's just a beautifully shot sequence and I LOVE how rough the fighting is, feels more organic than anything we've had in previous SW films. That moment when they look at each other and basically say "let's do this" without speaking a word, Rey's screams of defiance, Kylo's brutal hits, the moment Kylo frantically looks over to Rey when she's in a tight spot, the moment Rey shouts for Ben and throws him a lifeline and he finishes it without taking his eyes off her.
Damn I love the mushy force bond and "please" moments too, but this is a whole other level of trust and intimacy and I'm still not over it.

And the catwalk scene came across as Kylo manipulating Han and the forest scene came across as Kylo taunting Rey and Finn. Even after JJ said he didn't intend that they doubled down on their initial interpretations. Fanboys never understand. Nothing can change that.
That was not what the scene said to me. I found it quite nuanced and complex, from the beginning between Luke and Leia to Luke's stalling.
