So Italians get it on 13t or on 12 after certain hours? cause American release date is 15 but we actually get it on 14 at 7 pm.
Maybe in big cities, like Milan or Rome. I don't think I will watch it on midnight around here
13 is still earlier than 14 especially with European time zone. We will need a spoilerific report!
I WILL SPOIL YOU ALL! MHUHAHHUAH!

Don't know where. Likely Stateside (LA, NYC). Variety reported about it in an offhand manner (part of their Oscar preview)

Re: The Last Jedi: General Discussion
Premiere in Canada is still announced as December 15th. Sigh. I don't know if I'll be able to see it Friday night, though: I'll have to ask my cousins for a car ride, lol. In the worst case scenario, I'll be seeing it Saturday the 16th, but boy will theaters be crowded with kids. And I'll have to go pretty far to get to see the movie in English and not in French (even though the French Canadian dub was pretty good for TFA and Kylo had a pretty smexy voice).

Do you happen to know anyone who translates the movie into French? I'll never forget those fake French-Canuck leakers on 4chan who posted half of their spoilers in French for more authenticity.

I just like paused and stared at your signature for like 5 minutes watching Rey and Kylo's aghast faces loop all over again.
Those wide blown pupils, flushed faces, panting breaths and gaping lips.
If I didn't know any better or have never seen TFA, they look like they just broke off a spur of the moment French kiss and are like "WTF just happened?"
I wanted to specify french kiss because those lips look like they were workin' it.

D'you guys think that if there is a Reylo kiss in TLJ, it'll get nominated for a Teen's Choice Best Kiss award?

Oh hells to the yes it would! But forget the Teen's Choice Awards. It's gonna win the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. I know if it's gets nominated that this amazing community will make sure it wins

I'm not sure how we let the Rey vs. Kylo lightsaber duel lose out to Deadpool that year? However, when it comes to a kiss I can't imagine we'd give that award up so lightly lol.

That's what I meant! Haha. Silly me, MTV Awards. Not Teens' Choice. But either way, both would be awesome. MTV caters to teens, YA and up, while Teens' Choice is for the Nickelodeon crowd.
Heck, if this happens, I just want Adam to at least show up at the awards show. That's the very least I ask for.I would also ask for Daisy and Adam to reinact the kiss on stage, but I guess that's too much

Re: The Last Jedi: General Discussion
If there is a Reylo kiss in the future, I would like it to go something like this.
*They're about to kiss*
Rey: "I hate you." *looking longinly into his eyes*
Kylo: "I know." *doing the same thing*
And then they kiss, it will be like Han and Leia. Their own way of saying "I love you". Besides, Han said to Leia "I know" when she said she loved him. I expect tem to begrudgingly and especially on Rey's part admitting it. Also he has to call her sweeetheart thanks to junior novelization and he's Han's son. It's Solo's kind of thing to say.

OMG, those fake Quebecois translators were about just as French as Lumière, roflmao. If they really wanted more authencity, they should have spread around good ol' Quebecois swearwords centering around stuff you find in a church.
Sadly, no, i don't know anyone translating the movie. I'm in Ottawa, and those translations are all done in Montreal. Not to mention I don't want to get spoiled rofl. Also, I'd have to ask one of my teachers at uni who's worked for some time in translating movies and TV series, but... I think that for big movies like TLJ that are kept under wraps, they have a team of translators each working on different snippets of the movie. And they're under contract not to divulge anything.
Re: The Last Jedi: General Discussion
@irina de France
Damn, those fake Quebecois were real! they said they didn't have Act 2. Must have been assigned to another translator team.

Nah, still fake. Like, for real, if they really were translators, they wouldn't have spread some French like they dis. It was very clumsy.

Is Montreal the place to be for translators? Just thinking about a reconversion for next year, just in time for episode 9 But honestly, I sometimes wonder if Canada is not an interesting option. I was thinking about moving to Montreal with a former friend ages ago when they were looking for "skilled" people or whatever it was called. I was on stage 2 out of 3 in the application process but then the friend who was already there because she had started earlier with the process came back because she did not like it and I chickened out. I have a friend who is thinking about moving to Washington State now so he would be close to Canada. If he does, maybe I will visit and get a flavor. That's just on the opposite side to Montreal, but well can't have it all Anyways.

Any mention of dubbing for Québéc automatically makes me think of the scene in Denis Armand's Jesus of Montreal where one of the Passion Play actors is at his day job, doing dubs for English language porn films. One of the funniest scenes in that movie

There are A LOT of job opportunities in Canada for translation. Ottawa is a big place since the government is there and we do live in a bilingual country, and Canadian public service is considered the best in the world. Montreal is a big place too, and Toronto as well. But I'd suggest Montreal. There are A LOT of big international companies there.
@snufkin
The scene you're talking about in Jésus de Montréal is funny indeed, but boy I hate that movie. Partly because I had to study it for a college class (lol), but I could make a list of Everything I Hate About It. Gah.

Hahaha! We are likely the only Star Wars community which has ever discussed one of Arcand's films, let alone critiqued it.

Re: The Last Jedi: General Discussion
There is an interesting discussion happening on Reddit about how Luke might be a Moses figure, something we have discussed here and in podcasts.
https://www.reddit.com/r/starwarsspeculation/comments/73tu5a/lukes_story_will_mirror_that_of_moses/#bottom-comments
I found this part to be particularly interesting.
Like Moses, Luke in a way "freed the slaves" of the Empire.
But Moses also was never allowed to enter the Promised Land because he disobeyed God and kind of "played God" by acting like he produced a miracle of water in the desert when the gift really came from God.
https://carm.org/why-couldnt-moses-enter-promised-land
https://www.gotquestions.org/Moses-promised-land.html
So will there be a situation where pride/power goes to Luke's head and he thinks that he is somehow above the will of the force, and as such, is denied something in the end?

Wiki quote: According to the Book of Exodus in the Bible, the staff used by Moses (Hebrew: מַטֶּה matteh, translated "rod" in the King James Bible) was by his side throughout important milestones in the narrative. Among these milestone events or "miracles of the exodus" the Bible describes that the staff was used to produce water from a rock, was transformed into a snake and back, and was used at the parting of the Red Sea.[1] Whether or not Moses' staff was the same as that used by his brother Aaron (known as Aaron's rod) has been debated by rabbinical scholars.
Luke's staff has a snake head like Moses and Aaron's had! So who is this brother? Luke never had a brother... unless the staff is tied to someone else who is tied to Luke. A clone perhaps? Then again, the snakehead may be connected to Snake/Snoke/Smoke, who has a past with Luke. Did Luke obtain Snoke's staff and keep it?
Also of note, the staff can be turned into a snake and back into a staff. Maybe this is a metaphor for Luke and Snoke, for Snoke is a red herring (snoak) or smokescreen akin to Wizard of Oz as many speculated.
Guess it will be a lot simpler in the end, but the many hints are intriguing and as paralells, even if not spelled out or coming to fruition are there.
