"I hate Boba Fett; and his father too" Appreciation Thread

Some recent discussions made me remember just how I dislike these two....
The only debatable thing about it would be which one I hate more...

My arguments against them:
Chosing credits over righteousness is lame
Having no sense of duty is evil
Cool gadgets don't make you cool
The world is a sithy enough place to live without unscrupulous idiots enhabitting it
Jango even sold his body for money...doesn't that make him a manwhore?

I have more and will add them after lunch...it's rude to type in company

Cool gatgets are an obvious compensation for some complex....what could it be? Not being FS....or shortness?
Most overrated characters in the whole SW saga

To be killed by accident from the hands of a blind man to meet the destiny of rotting away for a 1000 years in a Sarlacc Pit is appropriate punishment, I'd say...

Jango got off too easy, IMO.....the only good thing Mace Windu ever did...

I can't claim to understand the Fett mystique... but for me it was love at first sight in ESB, just like the Knights of Ren. I think I am a sucker for bad boys with cool gadgets.. ahem ...

Became the most unsuccessful bounty hunter mercenary in the Universe....completely loosing his conscience and thus being appropriately punished by a lamest, most loughable wtf death in the whole SW saga...

He could have been a cool mercenary...you know...like Han!!! But noooo...he chose to be scum scoundrels are soooo much better....even if they shoot first....

Jango Fett = meh

But Boba is interesting.....

1. He is not on either the side of the Empire or the Rebels.

2. Has some sense of honor towards fellow bounty hunters- is angry with Asajj Ventress for leaving him behind during one of their missions as bounty hunters but still saves her life on another occasion.

3. He isn't the slight bit afraid of Vader (very few people can boast of this)

4. He has awesome gadgets and jet pack armour.

5. He managed to escape getting killed in the sarlac pit (hinted in recent novels) which shows even a sarlac cannot get the better of him.

If we go by the movies, he is mysterious but nothing great...and his "death" in the sarlac pit is hilarious...but if we look at his life in all the canon material, he is an interesting character.

Boba Fett looks cool and defeats the good guys, which was an important turning point. He seems to take no sith from Vader either.

Agreed his death was super lame.

Jango Fett, well... he can fight against a well trained Jedi, so that's something. His death was also lame...

I like how Captain Rex in TCW can shoot with both hands, which is similar to Boba Fett.

As to Boba Fett, my son, when he was 5, saw a youtube video with Boba Fett and then wanted to dress up as Boba Fett for Halloween. I had to order it online.

Of course, nobody knew who he was dressed as, the little geek, but he was proud of his cool costume. So... I don't know, there's something.

I voted for "Don't give a damn." Never cared for them when I was a kid and I still don't. It's also hard for me to fathom why Boba Fett is so damn loved in spite of having five lines total in the entire OT. That said, young!Boba Fett was adorable and I did feel sorry for him when his father died.

He also seriously creeped me out in TCW.

Let me clarify though. I loved Boba Fett more before GL gave him that ridiculous backstory in AotC. Part of Boba's appeal for me was his mysteriousness. I think GL wanted to cash in on a sleeper character that was an unexpected hit among fans. He was good the way he was. He didn't need a backstory for improvement. Nothing could have been as good as what I had built up in my head around him.

On second thought, the same reason I loved Boba so much are many of the same reasons I love Reylo. It's the mystery - wondering how much each knows about the other and where their story will go.

Even if Reylo becomes canon (which I'm sure it will just as the sun will rise), I wonder if what comes to fruition will ever be as good as my headcanon. I don't count on it, but I can always hope...

Bolded: look what I wrote to Force22...to me, his "appeal" stops when he opens his mouth or when one starts to think about his motivations....bling (gatgets) don't substitute for substance....his substance is non existant...he is a goddamn mercenary/body hunter with no sense of duty if he's working for the Empire....for all I care he could be the tallest most dark and handsomest man alive I'd still shoot him on principle...in the context of galaxy far far away...in the context of this world...I'd probably do him and then screw him over...

Upon reflection...the fact that bugs me most about him is that so many people find him cool....how can sellouts be cool???? I don't mean to offend anyone this is just my opinion and I am probably taking it way too seriously than I should....I mean...this is just a silly Star Wars movie...what has that got to do with real life anyway...
