TLJ predictions, Round 3

A thank you to @snufkin for reviving this idea!

Folks, the official TLJ trailer is very likely to be released in a few days (October 9th). Let's see where we're at with our personal TLJ predictions before the trailer drops.

In this poll, select each option that you think has a high likelihood of actually happening in TLJ (the actual movie not the trailer).

Voted! The other items of late I'm super curious about:

++ What's been teased a la 3 Outlaw Samurai, where antagonists aren't just forced to spend time with each other and develop sympathy but become disgusted with the sides they're supporting. Will that be Ben turning against Luke and the Jedi? Will it be whatever happens on Ache-to and the larger themes of Light/Dark and Balance? Will we get Space Politics with Leia's old friend Holdo pulling a power play on the Resistance?

++ The comments in print material and EW coverage about Snoke being Kylo's mentor which make it sound like he's Regina George. Will Kylo finally listen to Han's last warning and what mysterious big picture reason has made him stick with the FO and follow orders like patricide?

++ Will Luke provide any kind of training/mentoring to Rey? Or will there be a Who's Zooming Whom uneasy truce between her and Kylo because of the mysterious bigger picture to do with the Force?

++ What's the larger Space Bear/Yin-Yang/Balance intertwined fate these two characters share besides just Kylo wanting to take her to Space Prom?

++ Who comes out ahead by the end of the movie? I'm expecting that the power-hungry factions depicted in Bloodline will be present in both the FO and Resistance and have the upper hand on the FO side by the end. It may even be that the Resistance goes from bad to worse to non-existent as part of the cliffhanger.

++ What are the 'worst case scenario' for each character that Rian Johnson has teased at?

Ugh. I realized that (horror of horrors) I forgot to include the exploding hut in the list of options.

Darn it, because I do think that the exploding hut will happen.

If hut explosion happens, that’s gonna be a pretty key moment for those two changing for antagonists to allies. Possibly also setting up whatever the Praetorian guard fight scene.

I've said this before, but I have this headcanon of him shielding her from the exploding hut and winding up with that newer-looking cut on his face. Then we get the Beauty and the Beast moment.

cause if they take the Not Force Bond But Totally Force Bond route, they can depict any level of intimacy and get away with it cause it's happening metaphysically. It's a bit different from right now in real time in real world if you know what I mean.

I think the trailer may lead us to some conculsions but as to anything being really revelaed. As to the poll I see these things as most likely to occur;

- Kylo & Leia reunion
- Luke & Leia reunion

I believe these things could happen in the same scen in some manner possibily, but not there not exclusive to each other.

- Kylo defects from the First Order.

This happens I put my certainity of this at about 98% certain. When it occurs I'd say near the begining of the third act or end of second; we will begin to realize early in act two that Kylo is still conflicted and begins to see he's being used; He will realize his true purpose and Rey will assist in him realizing it.

- Rey falls from the cliff; Kylo dives in to rescue her.

I'm not sure about this one but just imagine the reaction if this did happen, as to the reason why Kylo may feel his only way to gain Rey's trust is to save her and who's not to say (the sea monster rumor) isn't true.

- Semi-Dark! Luke (Luke is "off" in some way, and perhaps even an antagonist, but not "the villain").


I think the complexity of the character will be shown, lots of angst to train Rey, fear of what Kylo is capable of assisted by the FO and his relucance due to how he failed Ben.

@Lily Snape - if it turns out after that Reddit rumor, the hut explosion got scrapped for something else, fans will riot. Or at least demand that it's included on the DVD/Blue Ray release. There will be some kind of pivotal moment for the two of them once they stop fighting or sniping over droid specifications and best guess will be whatever happens on Ache-to ends up not staying on Ache-to.

Yeah, unless Bothan Spy completely misinterpreted things (e.g. the hut gets blown up by a First Order sneak attack), there's no way that scene gets cut...because as you say, I can't see that scenario being anything OTHER than a pivotal moment for those three. I'd bet that that's the straw that breaks the camel's back and gets Rey to side with Kylo.

Rian Johnson's Vanity Fair comments made me think the kiss is going to be in Episode IX, so I'm one of the many who didn't vote for that.  Not that I wouldn't be delighted if it happened.  I'm just hoping for a lot of unresolved sexual tension at this point-- that said, I felt like the Snow Fight was one big episode of UST.

Yeah my hopes for a kiss fell a bit during RomanceGate. Not for Reylo overall, of course, but at least in regards to a kiss. Still, a kiss at the very end of TLJ isn’t ruled completely out so I still voted for it.

You never know. We might have a whole of surprises in store for us.

Funny, I voted for Reylo kiss.

I used to think it wouldn't happen in Episode VIII, before the whole romancegate. I just thought that they needed more time to get acquainted.

But I don't know, with the marketing, and cast preparing us for "something shocking", I think it might happen.

I voted for the kiss, too.

I certainly dialed back my TLJ Reylo expectations after romancegate, but I still think there could be a kiss or some other demonstration at the end...something to get the audience talking and wondering for the next two years.

I am proud to say I have remained a staunch kiss supporter from the start, no matter how low morale has gotten for us or how unlikely it has seemed at times.



Hey, if twins can make out in a Star Wars movie, why not Rey and Kylo? u_u

May I add an option here? Somehow I keep picturing Kylo holding Rey tight in his arms for some reasons. Maybe when she is in great fear of her own power. 

But yeah of course i voted for a kiss. I doubt it will happen in TLJ. Its just a wish. But if it really does i think i will literally flip out in the theater.

I would like to see that, no to tell it's easier to see a hug happening in TLJ than a kiss. Anyway, I love hugs, I find them more meaningful.

I know everybody is being cautiously optimistic but I still think we will get a kiss in TLJ, at least a force vision kiss. And then in IX we will get the full blown romance. Excited!!

I really wish that I had included Teacher! Kylo in this (pre-trailer) poll...because I'm pretty sure that we're getting that in some sense. (Even if it's just Rey agreeing to let him teach her at the end.)
