Re: The Last Jedi General Discussion
FinnRose are not like Hanleia in ESB because Hanleia got to the point of romance off screen between ANH and ESB. So ESB was basically "Admit your feelings for me!" "No!" "Yes!" "No!" "Yes!" Kiss...another kiss...L Word. From start to finish. FinnRose are likely to get to Hanleia point at the end of the movie but they won't talk about their feelings throughout unlike Hanleia. So, yes, there's a difference. Hanleia was in media res due to off screen development in romantic direction. FinnRose are meeting and learning about each other.
I do expect they have a great banter a la Hanleia, though, but likely less suggestive (again, different point in the relationship).

Exactly, Vad. They JUST met, where in ESB, Han and Leia have now known each other several years. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know who "romantic drama indeed" is referring to.
Who wants to help me grab a couple of shovels and so we can bury the VF bs/RomanceGate fiasco once and for all? It's been rotting for awhile and it was beginning to stink up the place...

Re: The Last Jedi General Discussion
@IoJovi I think there will be 2 romances and this sentence hints at it:
That's another strike against FinnRey though I'm sure their shippers are going to spin it as if it means there will be a romance when they reunite. They keep ignoring Rose but when the movie comes out, shipper landscape's gonna look very different.
each character was beginning to walk their own path. So, my duty was to dig down into: where do those paths go for each character?

They coordinate this sith so well. Yesterday, they released K Drama Chart and today Rian's confirmed that there's "romantic drama".

Welp, rest in pieces Vanity Fair and that a** of a reporter who decided to debunk theories on his own terms.
There's no start-to-finish romance, but there is romantic drama.

Re: The Last Jedi General Discussion
I thought there's gonna be romance between FinnRose, but with Rian's statement I don't see how FinnRose can have "DRAMA" since they just met. And Rian said nothing like Han/Leia romance in TLJ, so it seems there won't be romance between them?

Guys, please don't pose a bunch of Reylo questions. What happens will happen on-screen. We have more than enough as it is.

Exactly, he can't answer questions relating to twists in a movie that is going to be released in just a few weeks anyway. I don't want anybody to put Rian on the spot and encourage him to give a half-answer. What will be will be.

Absolutely, there's no need to ask those type of questions when the movie is 2.5 weeks away. Those questions will get thrown in the slush pile anyways. Plus if I'm asking him a question, it'll be something that he'd want to answer on topics like filmmaking or writing.

Re: The Last Jedi General Discussion
My late reaction to the last news regarding TLJ
1) About the Korean TLJ chart:
One detail that strikes me about Luke's description: he is introduced as the "hero who has returned". What I personally take from this piece of information? IMO, Luke will be relunctant to break his exile but he will ultimately return. In other words, I definitely say bye bye to Luke goes to the DS, scenario I wasn't convinced about initially. So Luke is IMO not the one who will be at the center of the drama. For the fun, I made a post about the parallels with SHR:
https://reylo1992.tumblr.com/post/167947082788/about-the-korean-tlj-connection-chart
2) About the "romancegate"
Very good thing that Rian brought an end to the romancegate by confirming that there is romantic drama. Two interesting things. I personally take his comment as a confirmation that there is no romance in the sense of "kissy kissy" things happening. He said anyway months ago that love ain't central in TLJ. However, he does confirm that there is romantic drama, which I interpret as the fact that there is romantic development although it doesn't lead to a romance by the end of the movie. I find it also interesting that he associates "romance" with "drama" as if the two of them were closely related. So what I take from this? Something dramatic will happen by the end of the movie and will prevent the romantic development to become a concrete romance.

I actually think the opposite is true is going to be true in this instance. During the May RomanceGate fiasco, Rian did answer a question (more like damage control, tbh) where he stated he never said there wouldn't be a romance in TLJ. He also implied that Colin (this was all prior to his firing) would have the option to make a big epic romance if he chose to do so. I'm paraphrasing of course, but for me, it basically confirmed slow-burn Reylo. TLJ is going to be about the developmental process - they are not actually going to be a couple in this film, but we will still see the underlying attraction and progression that shows they're headed in that direction. It'll be up to JJ to continue that story through IX.

Sorry, my comment was misdirecting. When I wrote, something dramatic preventing romance from happening, I actually meant in TLJ. I completely believe in romantic Reylo happening in Episode 9.

Hehe no worries! Yeah they have a lot of sith to work out before they can get to that point, even though I expect the romantic attraction to be clear. When Rey learns what I presume will be his sympathetic backstory, I think that's when all preconceived notions of him are going to fly out the window...

I'M DEAD.
I never thought that RJ was saying there is no romance in TLJ in that interview (Vanity fair?). I was surprised it was interpreted that way not just by antis (that would be expected) but by Reylo-friendly or Reylo-neutral fans.
To me it was obvious he was just dodging the question. RJ or other people associated with the film, would not on purpose lie or try to mislead, but on the other hand they will not give away things they consider spoilery. So if they are asked something to which a [clear] answer would be giving too much away, they will give a non-answer. (Which we should not take at face value or try to interpret).
Q to RJ: Is there a romance in TLJ?
Answer: Erm, it depends what you mean by romance … [dodging the question]
Q to AD: Does Kylo live at the end of of TLJ?
Answer: Erm it depends what you mean ‘live’ … [dodging the question]
So as an aside, Kylo will be perfectly fine at the end of TLJ, and there is no point to try to interpret what AD’s answer means for Kylo’s state at the end of the movie (because it means nothing).
At the end of TFA, Kylo was psychologically distraught from killing Han, dealing with the traitor, surprised by Rey’s awakening; and had a blaster wound on his abdomen, lightsaber wounds on his shoulder, leg (I think?) and face. Was AD or anyone else claiming that Kylo’s state could be described as “it depends what you mean live”? No, of course not. And at the end of TLJ he will be much better off. Maybe some cuts/buises, minor injuries (eg from fighting the PG) and may be still upset and regretful about killing Han, feeling unsure and confused of where he belongs and what he should do, (especially if he betrayed snoke) but of course none this means he is not alive and well. Also we know Rey has a bruise on forehead and a cut on her arm (at the very least) may be unsure and confused, upset at Luke etc. You would not say that because she in somewhat of a mess, she may not be consider alive (“depends what you mean live”). Of course not. Same applies to Kylo.

Adam was talking about living in the movie and not surviving at the end. Larry King put it weirdly but well Kylo isn't exactly living well in TLJ.

I know we'll never find out, but now that Colin's been out of the picture for a while, I'm dying to know what it is that he was going to do with Rey and Kylo that didn't work for Kathleen! WHAT!?
