It was a hot air balloon excursion. I just looked up examples of where they might go, and they apparently are different routes depending on the wind. So they wouldn't have known where they were going until that day, plus, it could be that when they woke up and found out where the wind was blowing, they realized it would blow over the filming location. I'll check with him and if he says anything different, I'll let you know. It's night in Jordan now. I'll also make sure he keeps his eyes open at the airport when he leaves.

ETA Mon 10/15: My friend is on his way home without any sightings. Sad

“The way they’ve been shooting it right now is looser than it’s been for the last two times,” he said, clarifying that Abrams has been allowing more improvisation on the set. “It does feel like a relief to get on set and feel like, ‘Oh, we can try things.’ It’s a testament to J.J. coming back and feeling confident. Thanks for sharing. I’m intrigued by the ‘ Cassavetes in space’ reference, which implies a certain amount of trust if they’re improvising delivery ? Although I’m not from a film background so I could have that wrong, but it sounds like Oscar has savoured this approach. It’ll be interesting to see how this translates in IX

Not surprising given that IX doesn't have as much baggage or expectation going in as TFA or TLJ, as Oscar indicates here. And these actors have been playing these characters for two movies going on three, I think they can be trusted enough that they can try new things. He's generally pretty big on having his actors explore their characters to begin with, which is rather different than Rian's style.

Nice to know that JJ seems confident, as I remember some earlier quotes where he seemed kind of terrified of the fanbase, he even referred to it as getting back in front of a firing squad.

I'm thinking LF trusts JJ more than L&M. He's done many of these huge action franchise films and even survived directing an entire SW movie, which only he and Rian can claim in the current age of SW. And they liked him enough to being him back.

He's said on many occasions, including with TFA, that he always likes to change things as he goes, so I was a little surprised to even think of this as news. That's just kind of how he prefers to roll.

I don’t personally think the two situations are comparable. For starters, TFA was a joint production between Lucasfilm and Bad Robot, so they’ve already ceded a lot of creative control to JJ in the past, and it worked out pretty well for all concerned. The script for TFA went through many changes. The injury to Harrison Ford gave rise to even more deviations from the original shooting script. We also know JJ reshot a fair bit of the early interaction between Rey and Finn during that time. Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver talked (in an interview with Conan O’Brien) about JJ getting AD to improvise different ways of speaking through the mask. That process continued on almost up until the movie was released with AD recording ADR as late as November before TFA was released in December.

People are going to worry about every little thing, I’ve been guilty of that too. But I don’t see anything to worry about in this particular case.

Ok, this leak is from 4 months ago and it guessed accurately the forest planet and the desert planet. I'm posting the leak here cause I'm sure it's a mix of real and FAF. Question is what is what. But anyway, it isn't a complete FAF obivously so I'm keeping it out of Crack:

Rebels start off on a green planet with a purple sky. They're all rugged, apparently on the run from the KoR and their stormtroopers. KoR find them, looking for the Resistance and Rey.
Rey, however, is on a journey to decipher the Jedi texts. She meets an alien called "Jaxter" and a one-eyed green minion-like alien. Chewie is with her, and he has a fat porg as a pet.
Kylo Ren and Rey have a Force moment. He's still looking for her.
Resistance is surrounded by FO, but Maz comes along with a fleet of pirates to help them escape. She has an octopus-like first mate (a female character).
Maz's ship looks like a futuristic Greek Galleon.
Kylo Ren, meanwhile, is trying to communicate to Vader's helmet. Instead, he has a vision of Luke, which angers him (leaker claims Luke is in a Christ-like pose).
Kylo Ren's control ship may either look like a "pizza slice with a bite take out of it" or a floating castle, depending on the design Abrams goes with.
There is a scene where Kylo and the KoR are meditating in a circle, attempting to locate Rey though the Force.
Rey deciphers the text, coming to the conclusion that Kylo is important for Balance in some way. She takes the Falcon to reunite with the Resistance. Instead, she runs into Kylo and the Knights of Ren.
Kylo has taken to wearing his helmet again apparently. He wears a high-collared cape. The KoR have the same design as in TFA, but with different weapons (all melee, no guns).
They board the Falcon. A fight ensues, resulting in the Falcon crash landing on another planet, like a desert with dead trees.
Meanwhile, Maz's pirate crew is being followed. They run head-on into the FO. Poe gives a speech, they prepare for battle.
Kylo and Rey have to survive on the desert planet together.
Hux comes to get Kylo, who hides Rey behind a wall of rocks he creates with the Force.
Finn and Rose end up on the desert planet. Rey, Rose, and Finn fight the KoR.
Rose is injured.
Leia shows up with a fleet in a brief cameo. Hux destroys her ship, pushing Kylo over the edge.
Kylo and Rey have a fight with Phasma and Hux on a FO ship. They fight a bunch of small droids, sharing Kylo Ren's lightsaber.
Rey doesn't have a lightsaber.
Phasma has a huge mechanical arm and patches on her mask.
Phasma injures Rey. Kylo Ren force pushes Phasma into space.
Hux attempts to kill Rey with Phasma's spear. Kylo Ren takes the hit, sacrificing himself.
Kylo dies in Rey's arms.
Rose succumbs to her injuries and dies in Finn's arms.
Kylo Ren may or may not be resurrected by Force ghosts at the end of the movie.

I'm going with 80-90% FAF with a lucky guess about a couple of world's general biomes.

Kylo surrounded by the Knights of Ren performing a ritual to locate Rey is basically a direct rip off of Zarkon searching for the Black Lion in season two of Netflix Voltron. If the Force worked that way they would have found Luke a long time ago.

Rose dying is another of definitive FAF detectors. After what KMT went through online there's NO WAY that JJ would EVER give them the satisfaction of her being killed for essentially no dramatic reason (Star Wars never kills even supporting types without a narrative reason anyway because its a fairy tale in space).

Similarly, the Falcon crashes on the desert planet with Chewie, Rey, Kylo and the KoR aboard... but Rey and Kylo are having to survive with ZERO mention of Chewie after that? There's no way they're going to kill off a character who can be played by different actors and can live for centuries (also why they won't kill of R2, C-3PO or BB- Cool

Gwendoline Christie has been filming a David Copperfield film and working on several other projects. She's NOT showing up in IX as a cyborg.

Also if its Hux trying to spear Rey, Kylo can just use the Force to stop the spear and make Hux look like a doofus as he trying to push against an immovable spear. If Hux is the big bad he's going to be more in line with the Trade Federation leaders in The Phantom Menace; threatening the heroes through the forces they control rather than going toe to toe with two of the strongest Force users the galaxy has ever seen.

Also up there with the Rose dying in the FAF elements is that other than Kylo talking to the helmet there is NOTHING in this setup that actually ties back to the notion that this is the end of the saga and/or balancing the Force. Just a bunch of stupid fights that end with Kylo dying to a spear thrust by Hux and Rose dying "because."

Move it to CRACK spoilers where it belongs.

@Chris24601 I disagree that it belongs in Crack. sets check and for the large part players, at least on desert planet. There's an indication that Rey and Kylo may have been on the planet (Adam and Daisy filming) before Finn&co show up. Now I'm sure that tons of stuff is pure embellishment and FAF but pirates will be in the movie in some capacity so it's possible that at least design is accurate. Mixed leaks are the worst cause one has to figure out what's real. But I'm not gonna dismiss the whole thing just because something is clearly made up. I made that mistake before and it bit me in the butt.

Same here though sounds interesting . Phasma alive though? Maybe this is early story board ? The stuff about Kylo dying and possibly being resurrected reminds me of gangsta rap guy - maybe Luke helps in the resurrection but ultimately if this happens I reckon it will be rey that brings him back with true love’s kiss . Like in the fairy tales .

Setting details and art pieces seem like they could be accurate, but storyline does not strike me as accurate.

If real, it's someone (once again) trying to piece together story based on the truth that they do know.

(ETA: Though to be fair, I guessed forest planet and desert planet - specifically Jakku - long before they even started filming IX - based on nothing except cues from earlier movies and my brain, so getting lucky is certainly possible).

This one isn't all that surprising tbh. He pulled out of the November 3rd screening (presumably due to SW), but he is due to present an award with John David Washington on November 8th (2 days later from the screening he is attending) anyway. There's also the Gotham Awards on November 26th for which he has been nominated for that he may attend. It's that time of year where you have to start gearing up for those Oscar campaigns Very Happy

So if Finn and Poe are possibly joining up with Rey at a later date I wonder why she was alone? If Daisy was indeed filming that is. Also curious as to where Kelly is. So far Finn and Poe have been spotted together but no sight of Kelly at all and Daisy with Resistance members.
