JJ Abrams: "Rey's parents are not in Episode VII"

It's trending on FB and a lot of people are saying they don't believe him because of the Khan debacle. So they think he'd repeat that mistake? Where's the link/quote/article of him saying he regretted that? I only became a big Trek fan after Into Darkness so I didn't follow any hype about it. Didn't even know he was asked about Khan.

I could see their argument of accusing him with Khan 2.0, but if he publicly regretted it, then I say "Nay! I cannot!"

Yes, in documentary JJ says that it's really exciting to him that "this brand new character discovers Luke". He meant Luke as the legend because he previously talks about what a legend Luke is.

There's nothing, absolutely not a single thing that supported Rey Skywalker ever since the movie came out. In fact, people from the production or connected to it did a lot to debunk it in roundabout way. pablo shot down every single theory that Rey Skywalker hung on:

Rey was taken to Jakku after Jedi school massacre - FALSE! Rey was abandoned years before Jedi school destruction

Whoever you're waiting for are not coming back. But someone still could - Maz is talking about TWO DIFFERENT THINGS/PEOPLE, someone is not coming back (one thing/people), someone still could (another thing/people)

DR's interview that says her parentage is not a big deal and it's more important where she is going as a character instead of who she is from. or something.

JJ flat out saying that parents are not in TFA. Pablo playing along in his usual cryptuc way. Calling Kylo the Skywalker in TFA.

JJ's laughably weak DC that [REDACTED] that parents are in TFA but "maybe in Rey's world". World =/= movie.

It's debunked. It's just that House of the Mouse was not happy and when studios panic we get LOLtastic DC that always confirms the original slip.

Can someone explain to me what DR did? I keep hearing about that but don't know what happened.

@Xylo Ren Difference between Khan and Reygate is that Khan was rehersed public statement. Reygate caught him off guard. There was no DC after Khan. he flat out lied and the movie came out and there was Khan. He didn't slip Khan, he lied. He never retracted it before the movie came out. Totlaly different situation from Reygate, which is obvious slip that shouldn't have happened (hence DC), not a rehearsed lie.

@vaderito,thanks for the clarification.Now I'm even more convinced JJ used the word discover on purpose when he did damage control since be uses that word to describe Rey finding Luke.

Yeah, and "WHAT COULD IT ALL MEAN?", for me , is based on the fact that "it all" is true. It all being the revelation that Rey is not a Skywalker. And, in the Reylo tag, well, what's the obvious answer for that question? Of course, "could" is just a possibility, not that it's necessarily true...

I think that she, like Pablo, took the clue that it was okay to take JJ's statement as a reveal. Of course, it's subtle enough not to be noticed.

Well, who knows. Presumably celebrities on social media do search themselves, but I still find it interesting that she chose that post to make a comment.

I don't do Instagram so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure tagging is @Someone, not #Someone. #Someone just means they're relevant to the post. It doesn't give them a notification or anything.

Surely he HAD to know what he said the first time around. I didn't see the actual video. Was there an audience reaction? I can't imagine there wasn't one. If there was one, he would have clarified it then if that wasn't his original intention to debunk Rey Skywalker.

He MUST have gotten pressure higher up to retract his statement.
