EW TLJ Covers: Raw Powah Couple Edition

I understand that it looks kinda weird and they used old pics, not the new ones. Look at it from the bright side ... they are on the same cover and looking powerful!

Also, positively surprised no Rey and Luke cover.

Rey is defending him on basically every poster, promo materials recently.

This is exactly the kind of marketing trash I've been raging about all morning. They release FinnRose cover literally a day after they released "Finn only thinks about Rey" spot. Like, get your sith together. No wonder all fandoms are frustrated. They send mixed messages, like, everyone's fair game and you can imagine/read into it anything you like. That does no one any favors. Make up your mind who gets whom. It's tiresome.

OK, rant time. Why couldn't they acknowledge that Laura is taller than Oscar? It's like when VF made Mark look as tall as Adam in comparison to Daisy. Sexist much?

What mixed messages?

John said months ago that Finn wants to run away with Rey, but then he finds his calling. Besides he clearly defined the nature of their relationship and why wouldn't he asked for her? Last time he saw her she was unconscious and fighting with Kylo.

They're going exactly by what they said. Finn thinks about Rey and then his attention shifts to the Resistance and this will be most likely his reason to fight for. Fighting for the good guys and defeat the FO.

Agree with you. That the first thing that came to my mind. I don't like that cover either because Padme's position is disturbing. Still, parallel is kinda here

Oh boy, imagine the sithstorm if Rey took Padme's pose and Kylo Anakin's.

Rant No.2: They did not lift Carrie to look as tall as Mark or Kelly to match John but they lifted Oscar to match Laura. No, I will not leave this alone!

Did I accidentally hear someone say FinnRey? Because that's not what I'm seeing here.

I am asking myself the same question. Ether people who did it are blind, or we have a dirty mind or it was intentional. That doesn't beat Luke and Rey's shot through, I found it so much more disturbing

Yeah, how dare a woman be taller than the man!

I'm small so it never was an issue for me- but I have a tall friend, she always giving herself headaches if she can wear shoes with heels for her dates or the guy feels offended if she is taller with them than him. What the hell? Really? What century are we living in?
Funny thing is, most tall guys seemed to go for small women and the other way round.

I don't care if the cover is just an edit, it's still amazing to see these two FINALLY side by side in the promo material.

If we were to be based on recent marketing, Kylo would take Padme's pose. He's been often marketed sideways, the way female characters are traditionally marketed, while Rey stands facing the camera, feet apart, like male characters are marketed.

Of course, this Padme pose is way exaggerated, so it wouldn't be like that.

What are you talking about? Vad, please, think for a second. Finn just got slashed up the spine and has been in a coma for like... 2 weeks. Of course he's going to wake up and ask all about Rey. She was in danger too last he was awake. Boyega literally said he was going to be fixated on Rey's location as soon as he woke up 4-5 months ago and Rose would be the one to knock the sense back into him and tell him that HE has a mission, HE has a future in the Resistance, and HE has to find out what that future is by finding his own way and his own place.

Finn and Rey were THE point of TFA. They were THE "beating heart" dynamic. They became friends, leaned on each other, saved each other. You don't have to squash one relationship in order to elevate another one. They are not in conflict with one another.

John was upfront that Finn and Rey don't have a lot of screen-time together in this one and his character his on an adventure with Rose this time around. He also said Finn and Rey never established a romance and that the romance would not be going in that direction. I don't see how you can get any clearer than the above, so let the FinnReys celebrate or whatever. Deep down they know the truth as well as anybody.
