Omg as you say when marketing kicks off for episode 9 Pablo won’t know what hit him -bless !He’ll be inundated with shippers of all kinds, shipping wars and people sending him their works, poems and art on a greater scale etc . Wonder how Pablo is going to handle that ??It’s gonna be hilarious! Lol!

@Birdwoman The article itself isn't that great, but if you take a look at the reaction to it on Twitter, especially having it be mostly two BNFs complaining about their own personal experiences, it's getting roasted. There are a lot of quotes pulled from Twitter where the author, including Rian Johnson, weren't consulted if they're like to comment and the response also not so great. Including Rian responding directly to the author that he takes the trolls with a grain of salt compared to the rest of the fans.

I'm not sure what to think about this. I do have concerns about how they will address the "force-connection".

If JJ decides it's broken- ok, I can deal with it. It would be a missed opportunity- but whatever. But if they won't even mention it like it never even happened? I would be really pissed to be honest.

I don't really buy a "metaphorical connection" (what does a metaphorical connection mean in this context, anyway?). Or at least you'll never convince me that was the plan in TFA. The Force showing Rey visions that were about 80% about Kylo, the "energy they recognised in each other" ("Don't be afraid, I feel it too"), and Rey being able to siphon learned skills from Kylo all indicated something strange and mystical going on between them; that's how Reylo fandom latched onto a Force bond in December 2015 in the first place. And all of this was before Snoke was even aware of Rey's existence. Nobody predicted that Snoke created a connection between them because Snoke wasn't in the picture at all; Snoke had no interest in Rey before Kylo failed to interrogate her. Lots of people saw the "mysterious connection" in TFA itself, and only differed in the mysterious causes behind such a connection (ranging from separated siblings to soulmate lovers).

I wonder if the "awakening" itself will ever be addressed again. I suppose not.

My understanding is that there was always a pre-existing connection. I think Matt was trying to differentiate the two, so Kylo felt drawn to Rey in Takodana (Rey to Kylo too) but it was Snoke that created the literal physical manifestation i.e. the Force Skype. So Rey pulling the mindtrick from Kylo's mind, feeling a connection to her etc is all canon (and stated in a tonne of canon content)

I'm more excited at the prospect of learning specifics, Matt would have given me a vague response regarding my last Q (falcon FB) but instead was like "specifics could be addressed in episode 9" he had to add the "or maybe not" to not give away spoilers lol.

This is exactly how I understand reylo connection - they’re connected in and through the force (being each other’s opposites and complementing each other at the same time, Rey’s light balancing Kylo’s darkness after his fall, Force shipping reylo   and making them meet to give them both a chance to make things right) as well as on a personal level, like people can be connected without some supernatural power involved (possessing skills nobody else has, experiencing extreme loneliness, having abandonment issues, being victims of hardships/abuse, dealing with problems of their own identity and purpose in life) - this connection results in what we’ve already seen in SW in relation to people important to each other in some way (siblings, parent-child) which is sensing their feelings and emotions. Thanks to Snoke’s advanced match making Rey and Kylo could go a step further and actually see each other across the galaxy and talk or even touch. I guess - or maybe hope - that force-skyping was possible after Snoke’s death cos once established, it cannot be broken and not because Snoke’s really alive.

‘Metaphorical’ is a slightly unfortunate choice here cos it kinda implies only the connection based on personal experience rather than also something grand, i.e. the Force, but I think Matt used it to differentiate reylo connection in TFA from reylo force-skyping in TLJ which would be the ‘literal’ connection when they pretty much manifest in front of each other.

EDIT: I haven’t noticed @Riri post where she basically wrote what I had in mind.
