Episode IX: Spoilers and Rumors

J seems so excited! Hope he delivers the goods! BTW it was Ash who asked the question about the TLJ fan reaction. JJ did mention is a trilogy so hopefully he will follow through with Reylo. PLS JJ! Hope you did the right thing!

Also he is not budging on the Episode IX title, he still didn't give her a clue when we will get it. Damn.. I bet is celebration.

I wonder if going back to Jakku means that the movie is going back to Rey's parents storyline, somehow. Not necessarily to debunk what we've learned in TLJ, but to expand on it some way? I can't really see any other reason for going back.

There was quite a bit in Chuck Wendig's Aftermath: Empire's End about Jakku having a secret lab set up by Sidious to contact a mysterious presence in the UR...and now rumor has it there is a presence from the beyond that could be coming to threaten the known GFFA in Ep. IX.

I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but it's an intriguing grain of salt.  

Going back to Jakku makes sense, coming full circle and I think most importantly Rey coming to terms with her past so she can move on.

At this point if they're not going to drop the title into today's media cycle so it gets covered by the Oscars red carpet, they're holding it back for Celebration to work it in with the title teaser and ABC media coverage. Be curious to see if they show any footage for Cinemacon in early April.  I'm cynical enough about Disney and how it treats all of the various pieces of pop culture it's bought up as marketing material instead of being stewards, I could easily see some stunt where the announcement is used to boost the launch of their streaming service. But at this point, holding it back is like the classic Ovaltine scene in A Christmas Story



As another person who was a kid during the OT, what I remember from the aftermath of ESB's cliffhanger was being concerned about:
1) How Leia was going to rescue her man from the bad guys?
2) What was going to happen now that the person Luke had most dreamed of knowing turned out to be the villain?

I'm sure as with now, there were likely unimaginative people out there loudly insisting that it wasn't a cliffhanger and that both matters were settled. Leia's story was a cautionary tale about dating the Bad Boy and that Luke was going to stick a laser sword in the bad guy as retribution for all the bad things he's done thanks to falling to the dark side (either one sound familiar?). Lucky for me I wasn't around them as a kid, I certainly don't associate with them as an adult, and as with 30 years ago, they're going to be really disappointed and blame the filmmaker because their expectations are unrealistic.

RE: going back to Jakku, it makes sense thematically because everything started there, plus the dumb "why does everybody want to go back to Jakku?!" running gag. I'd dig it if they had our space nerds forced together on Jakku working out their issues because he'd have to deal with being on her turf after wrongly claiming she's a nobody from nowhere with no connection to the story. Also for those of you who love PT parallels, just imagine the potential "I hate sand" gags. There should be something in regards to making peace with what happened with her parents now that she's been forced to face her trauma (which was the point of having her and Luke face off b/c they reflected one another). Even if it's additional information that like Luke, they gave in to their worse impulses during a moment of weakness, lived with the guilt/shame afterwards, and that's what led to their deaths. At least it'd be a nice detail versus how leaving it that her parents were addicts and that killed them seems a little bleak after showing Luke guilty and then atoning for his actions.

I'm actually hoping they stick with TLJ's revelation that they were 'nobodies', although I don't mind her being a Kenobi.
I have this feeling Rey will go to Jakku to find their graves, maybe they intended to return for her and something happened to them.

I wonder if Rey will feel like an outcast in the Resistance, possibly due to her Force sensitivity, because Kylo has never truly fit in with the FO. His loneliness at the end of TLJ shows that he's even more isolated as SL.
I just am waiting for things to hit the fan when the Resistance discover the Force bond....and Hux discovered who really killed Snoke....

Quick question. Was Temeri eventually discredited and booted off of reddit? I find his description of the desert planet interesting with a river like the Nile. Thanks.

Interesting, the University of Pennsylvania, seems to think that the Sacred Jedi Text script from the art of TLJ book resembles Ethiopian script the most and well the Nile begins in Ethiopia and runs north downhill through the equatorial forest to the deserts of the Sahara and Egypt so...? Maybe take it a little serious or it may just be a happenstance accident and he is fudging the truth..... we shall see...

The Ferex description reminds me of the Nazis in Raiders...which is in Egypt, could be something could be nothing.

I'm confused about how many desert planets there's supposed to be. There's Jakku, there's Tatooine, there's a new planet... On top of all the other new planets. I'm not sure if every one of these is actually showing up.

Maybe they felt there wasn't enough in the previous two movies. TFA has Jakku and Takodana. We barely see D'Qar, not sure SKB counts. TLJ had Ahch-To, Crait, and Canto Bight. One of the subplots was in space, not on any planet.

They haven't done a ton of worldbuilding, likely to give more screentime to the characters. But IX appears to have tons of characters AND planets. I wouldn't be shocked if the movie clocked in at 2:45. Supposedly the new Avengers is going to be absurdly long also.

I have this image of Kylo and Rey on Jakku at the end of the film, saying their goodbyes to their families before leaving to make a new start somewhere in the galaxy.
Just a dream.....yet...who knows?O:-):-)

@AhsokaTano Just throwing this out there regarding "The Assault on Jakku" - I wonder if potentially that could be about The Mandalorian. Isn't that set after RotJ? It's going to be a triple Force Friday, so potentially those toys are going to be coming out at the same time so they could be in the same batch for the movie.
I'm not married to any theory regarding returning to Jakku, so I'm not deeply invested in that plotline. I can see where it could go either way with regards to heading back to Jakku in TrIXie.

Here are the notes from the show:

Jordan stood in for two planets in Star Wars: Episode IX.
The festival party is not the classic planet but a new one.
There’s Knights of Ren content filmed on that planet.
There is footage of Kylo walking away from TIE Fighter crash there.
The Lars Homestead may have been filmed at Pinewood for interiors and exteriors in Jordan.
Luke Skywalker’s X-wing Fighter was there and Rey has Luke’s X-wing helmet.
The MacGuffin supposedly starts out as one thing and that leads them to something else and unfortunately no one would ever tell us what it leads to as this is the films big secret.
Kylo’s ship is white with red and black details and lots of very cool mechanical looking parts dotted around it. Vader’s helmet is stored there.
The castle set we had been seeing is actually a miner’s town.
There is a droid factory (small room) there which is an Easter egg heaven – droids on the table reference John William’s scores, there is a Bad Robot, and some original prequel era Battle Droids.
Kylo Ren fights resistance troopers in the swamp and supposedly uses some brutal moves on them.
The Black Park Falcon set features some fire on the Falcon.
The Orange X-wing we saw back day does not appear to be Poe’s.
Keri Russel
Keri Russell’s outfit is rose gold, extremely fancy like a Stormtrooper but with the armor split into triangles on a purple suit. Her helmet has the shape of an Olympic cycling helmet. She was seen on the snow planet.
There might be a zero gravity battle at the end of the film and they built a massive wing or roof for it.
Some pictures that show an X-wing and an A-wing hit the internet today which seem to line up with the Luke X-wing information to some degree:

Ok so Kylo walking away from a crashed Tie Silencer on a sandy planet is interesting because there were heavy rumours that he has scenes with Daisy on that sandy planet.

Keri's outfit sounds AMAZING. i love that she's a bounty hunter.

I wonder if:
Kylo has to flee the FO when they find out he killed Snoke
Rey leaves the Resistance for some reason and meets up with Kylo
Keri is hired by Hux to track down Kylo

Interesting that Kylo's ship is white.

I saw something indicating earlier today indicating something big was dropping tonight, not movie-TV-Celebration related. Basically a zillion journalists released their articles about the under-construction Galaxy's Edge at the same time. Disney's own ABC News, GMA, and D23, a bunch from Nerdist, io9... Disney knows how to to work the press to their advantage.

Apparently it's set between TLJ and IX. This has been in development for so long, and Batuu has been appearing across more and more SW EU stuff, I've wondered how much this was intended to incorporate into IX from the getgo. The corporate synergy right now.
