On one hand, I am happy there's a new Reylo shipper on board and it is great to see a fan experience the SW films for the first time. However, I don't understand why so many Reylo shippers on twitter/tumblr are treating this as if it's something amazing. Is it because she's a BNF with many followers? There are plenty of average Reylo shippers who became invested in the SW films because of Reylo, myself included. I watched TPM way back in the day as a little girl, but the ST and Reylo brought me into the overall fandom and pushed me to watch all the OT and PT films (even though I pretty much knew all the major plot points and main characters by then, since SW is extremely well known here).

I don't want to be mean or rude, I just don't get why a fan is worthy of more praise and attention because they have a lot of twitter followers. But I guess that's life. Even so, it is nice to see Reylo fans on twitter having fun, so I'll keep my cynical comments here.

Although, I don't think this was pre-planned on Mar's part. I think LF saw her live tweeting and jumped at the chance to connect with a fan who is promoting the films to her many followers, in a way. But who knows. Business is business.

@rey09 Same here! When I saw all the commotion and excitement, I assumed she was an actress in the industry or a YA writer or something along those lines. I don't know if she's lucky or unlucky for catching the attention of the SW fandom, since there's so many antis. Maybe that's why Reylo shippers are scrambling to support her? I understand not wanting a new fan to get overwhelmed by negativity. But yeah, I was taken aback when I found out she's just a regular person on twitter.

Being part of a fandom is like going into the Force cave on Dagobah. You pretty much get out of it what you take in with you.

I think Mar is genuine, but if it was a marketing strategy, then it would be a good sign for Reylo, because you don't try to ease people into something that won't happen (one way or another). I think it's a win-win situation for us.

PS I don't care if it's innocent or from within DLF. The focus is Reylo and Bendemption. So either way, we win! If innocent, DLF thought hmm..this can be an organic marketing campaign for Reylo and Bendemption. If from within, then it's part of the plan to make Reylo and Bendemption more obvious (and to tell antis and dudebros...this is it, it's inevitable, either accept it or move on).

Sure, if innocent, there are personal reasons to feel jealous (everyone at DLF minus Bob Iger, KK, and JJ personally chimed in...my god, she is so lucky), and it's OK to acknowledge it - it's a very human feeling. At the same time, when it becomes negative jealousy, focus on how it's a victory for Reylo and Bendemption.

I saw people suggesting from early on that it wasn't real. I almost don't care if it is or not? She made people happy, including those who had gotten really jaded with fandom. It appeared to be fans who started the hashtag for the premiere, not her, well before Rian came on board. Though LF certainly took the opportunity to promote her gushing over SW regardless. Whether intentional or not, the chance to have a new fan (or at least someone who had never publicly talked about SW before) promoting the whole saga, especially Reylo, does line up very closely with what LF has been doing this year as well.

Oh, I do think it's a wonderful sign for the future of "reylo" and she seems lovely and everything...
The only thing I found weird was the celebration she recieved from the LF group and the others...meanwhile we, average people were abused and bullied since 2016 and none of them moved a finger for us. It's not her. She's a sweetheart. It's the people who are celebrating her for...what,? ...they seem strange and a bit fake to me. And unfair.
Like I made an essay about how Ben Solo represents the darker, more difficult part of adolescene and instead of being supported by the officual LF members / Mark Hamill/ Rian or anyone, I got harrassed by some highly problematic cyber bully who came up with his nonsense bully s*** and he got 30 likes meanwhile I got none...Twitter is not reality that's obvious...just weird.

Like there's an article about her, and some of the guys made T-Shirts of her, drawings of her, wanting her to be invited to the TROS premiere...like...I hope she won't burn out once she gets used to this attention..it's like making a popstar out of somebody for 3 days for selfish reasons and then leave and not to care about her anymore....this behavior is abnormal what the twitter people are doing right now, it's beyond creepy. It has more disadvantages, than advantages I think.

People are celebrating her newfound love of Star Wars...because they love it too! That's why we're all here anyway.

For me it's been like going to a wedding. I enjoy celebrating someone else's love and being happy for them, but it also helps me remember too how much I love that guy I married twenty years ago who has been annoying me by never ever ever washing the coffeepot. It's granted me a new perspective.

The Mar popularity isn't too hard to get. She was apparently already a big name fan elsewhere and she does the funny liveblogging that people love with seemingly zero knowledge of Star Wars, which is rare. You can speculate on whether or not she's telling the truth, but that seems rather cynical and doesn't really change anything. She had fun, people had fun watching her, LF heard about it and joined in. Nothing nefarious about it and nothing to raise much of an eyebrow at.

Everybody - the official SW twitter account, cast and crew, Lucasfilm members - were informed about her by a reylo and some of them were initially confused and didn’t know what was going on so either they’re master liars or - what I believe - really had no idea about her. Such a situation is great for their marketing, though, so of course they’re gonna use it .

I agree with a couple of Reylos that the person running Disney+ social media is a Reylo. lol They also posted Reylo cosplay on Disney+ Twitter, if I remember correctly.

I think it was the SW Show that asked Mar to be on, that apparently happens today. Also, it would seem people are still treating her crummy, and she's kind of done apologizing for... I'm not even sure what she did that's offending people this badly days later. Like, people just need to chill.

Yup. It's the SWS. Last night, I was listening/watching to a live Girls With Sabers podcast guest starring Mar and she shared live that she got a message from them wanting to interview her for the show.

@Starliteprism Yeah, and there was a SyFy Wire article summarizing the whole thing, I think there might be more articles as well. It's so rare for news about SW fandom to be positive, usually it's just about how terrible we are. She's currently attempting to watch Solo without her stream breaking down, posting lyrics of songs that remind her of Reylo, and asking for Reylo fanfic that will make her cry. Her profile picture is Leia now.
