I wonder if she has some knowledge of his background story. If yes, and she believes it's a good enough explanation for his darkside-wavering, I'd say we have a winning-ship!

I think the authors are given some background information on the characters ....for example, I just finished reading Servants of the Empire: The Secret Academy by Jason Fry. Jason Fry worked with the Star Wars Rebels production team since some of the characters in the book appeared on the show. Then he worked on another project with Lucasfilms called "Star Wars: The Force Awakens- Incredible Cross Sections". He was given access to TFA concept art, stills, and a synopsis of the TFA, and he gave Pablo Hidalgo the idea that General Hux should be connected to a character in his book.

Going by this example, since Claudia Gray wrote Lost Stars and now Bloodline, she must be having some information about the time between the battle of Endor and TFA regarding Kylo Ren. She probably doesn't know what lies in the future for his character but must be reaching a conclusion based on what she already knows.....I hope she turns out to be right. *fingers crossed*

Pablo Hidalgo tweeted a couple of things yesterday that are relevant to our interests. One confirming Rey was waiting for her family on Jakku (as per what she says to BB8). The other implying that Claudia Gray's Bloodlines will say how long Luke has been gone for. The question was has Luke been gone 4 years before Bloodlines and 10 years before the events of TFA. I would post screen shots but I'm on my mobile and it's all too fiddly for this old dinosaur on that!

haha, someone  resurrected an old tweet of mine to argue with it and pablo answered.  I don’t even get why this had to be confirmed by pablo, it’s in the movie, Rey was waiting for her family.  I think it just comes down to people not believing Maz and needing to be explicitly told what is going on in the story.

Great Tweets! I like the one where Pablo sticks it to the Rey Skywalker fan, like "Yeah, the movie says she's waiting for her family."

What people generally respond to that: "Rey doesn't know anything. She doesn't know who she's waiting for."

... And yet the movie still says she's waiting for her "FAMILY".

People engage in some serious selective hearing when they watch this movie. They don't want to believe Maz because believing Maz would mean accepting that Luke isn't Rey's family, which would mean accepting that he isn't her blood father (which logic/the narrative/Maz spell out clear as day). They like to say Maz's speech was super ambiguous, but it really wasn't, and the writers aren't going to retcon it because Rey was never and will never be Luke's daughter. They also like to say that Maz "doesn't know everything", which totally undermines the point of Maz's existence and her characterization (she's explicitly revealed to be ancient, wise and Force Sensitive, and she has the power to see truths in peoples' eyes).

As I'm reading the first post, I'm thinking of all these coincidences of "we'll see" in regards to Reylo.

Right? I'm starting to think that "We'll see" is an inside joke among the cast and TPTB.

@re09 Please remove the forum name cause this is public forum. We know what you are talking about but rules are that we don't name names.

This could maybe be of interest to some folks who knows. It's a pretty random Tweet but I don't know. It could be nothing at all as in "maybe Rey is as Random as the next average Joe" or it could be indication of Reys lineage.
Rey is not literally a Crawley but the Crawley family are a popular family today. They are Aristocrats from the series Downton Abbey.
