Oh no, twin anything is going to get people going bonkers over Leia's ring and what does it mean?! @Lily Snape - I have no idea about the show and characters you're talking about, but I'll take your word for it! IDK if some of this plays into cultural differences, because as an American, I can just imagine how the whole "everybody has to be special" attitude, especially for kids in school, feeds into being "meh" over having Finn and Rose stepping out of the shadow of their flashier peers like Poe and Rey. Or how Rose's sister Paige is a hotshot. Not that there isn't some kind of example in whatever happened with Ben is a young man who ends up cracking under the expectations of his parents/peers to be an overachiever. But the Everyman type character, I can see that be a harder sell here because we're not so great when it comes to championing traits like humility and modesty. And SW has played into that for decades with touting being a Jedi as being the coolest level of cool person in that fictional universe. But I'm all down for the team of Underdogs getting their own adventure and ability to be tested/shine.

Catching up real quick here - hope read EW properly at some point. When I first started becoming interested in the dynamics of Rey and Kylo and stumbling across various metas that had been written about the ying yang and symbolic aspects at play it literally blew my mind. Especially the Star Killer base bridge scene and the lighting shifting and what it eventually points to. I love the prophecy aspect very much and how Luke may have decided to interpret it and when did he do that ?

Well, that only cleared up that Anakin was the "mentioned-in-Jedi-prophecy-to-bring-an-end-to-the-Sith-bring-balance-and-wrap-up-Episodes-I-through-VI" (Pablo's words) Chosen One. That doesn't mean there's no new prophecy. Obviously it would have to be a new prophecy; they wouldn't toss Anakin's arc aside and make the previous films pointless.

But yeah, I think Pablo's tweets just clarify that the original Chosen One prophecy hasn't changed. If there's something new, it's something new. And it won't be called "Chosen One".

I think we have to get used to the idea that the actors know a great deal about their characters and motivations, but they're not going to delve deeply into all the lore and the correct terms for things like the fans are. Hamill's talking here in an offhand way that the casual audience will understand - he's not giving out clues for us to analyse.

They're not "clues", obviously. But according to Breznican's tweet, also Rian mentioned "chosen one".

I just don't understand why it would be so inconceivable that there would be a prophecy of some kind? Obviously it wouldn't be the prophecy of the Chosen One from the PT, but something new and different.

I don't think Luke will want to kill Kylo... I think he wants him back like Leia. It says he feels responsible about what happened to Ben and his students.

Luke wanting Kylo killed would work perfectly trope-wise. Remember Kung Fu Panda (1)? Master Shifu also needed Po to defeat his former student and now evil Tai Lung; and before Po realized what the dragon scroll's power truly is, Shifu sends him away with the others saying "Then I will finally have paid for my mistake." Luke might believe that he could right his wrongs by training a "good Jedi" who is able to defeat and kill the "bad Jedi"; what will lead to Rey's refusal of this will probably be a well-kept secret until the movie's release.

Ben wasn't a son to anyone really - Luke was off being a Jedi, Leia a politician, Han a smuggler. Which is why he was so vulnerable to Snoke.

Kylo's scar is actually much worse than I thought it was;it doesn't ruin his looks but it looks really deep. I'm very interested in whatRey's reaction is going to be when she sees her handiwork.

Am not at my desk but I changed the light levels on that pic to see if there was anything else hidden in 'shadows' - couldn't see anything significant but as has been mentioned the pic with his stitch wound his scar looks a bit more faded. I think maybe Rey may not outwardly show it but I'd be inclined to think she'd be mortified once she learns more about his past

Yes and I think there is a new prophecy. There is some foreshadowing for that. "The girl I've heard so much about" could have more meaning to it than the simple fact that Kylo had heard two reports about her from his men. The stunned look on his face when she pulls the lightsaber despite already knowing that she's strong in the Force. His offer to teach her.

If he knows something about her already, it could be from a prophecy - and not one in which they are fated to destroy each other. They will be allies eventually and this could be what he's already seen or heard about somehow.

I think they are both the Chosen One.
"Disparate pieces come together"
"Destinies intertwined"
"Strange connection"

So what are you guys most excited about in these new articles?

I think keeping everything under wraps is making the story itself sound kind of unexciting (though I know it won't be), but I've loved all the glimpses into new details we've seen so far. Canto Bight, Porgs, the nuns... I can't wait to see it all - I think the world-building in TLJ is going to be amazing.

I think keeping everything under wraps is making the story itself sound kind of unexciting (though I know it won't be), but I've loved all the glimpses into new details we've seen so far.
