Is the 'trio embrace' scene actually in the film, or just Daisy, John and Oscar hugging off set?

I hope the controversial part will be REYLO and I really hope at the end Ben Solo will alive with Rey. I feel strange te see Rey-Poe-Finn in the place of Leia-Luke-Han... and I’m sad for Kylo/Ben. I think (if Rey or Poe or Finn are not Skywalker and they are not) the protagonist of this story would be Kylo and this is a story of his redemption but I feel sad, becouse he only suffer, this is a strange villain becouse I feel sad for him, not for Rey/Finn/Poe. ... I’m not ready for Skaywalker saga end

I think if JJ intended to kill off Kylo, he wouldn't have announced the 'end of the Skywalkers.'

Remember.... Ben isn't a Skywalker. He's a Solo.

Ben only has his Force powers because of who his mother is. If Carrie hadn't passed away, I'd hoped IX would've tackled the mother-child relationship in a franchise where moms typically get fridged for character development. Especially with a singular character like Leia about how one manages motherhood with the weight of the world (and supernatural powers) on your shoulders. But unless they're doing something radically different after TFA, TLJ, and Solo, my impression is that IX will be about the "truth that is your family" for Ben is "too much of your father's warm heart."  He's gonna hate being the man in charge because it goes against his nature. Which also, why else have the whole discussion between Han and Lando about their parents (shout out to Lando's mom) which sets up his relationship/betrayal by Beckett, his empathy for Rey, and his conflicted feelings/guilt over Ben which leads to the bridge scene? I'm just curious how they're going to resolve Ben and Leia's estrangement using re-purposed archival footage from TFA.

Yeah I've reconciled that IX is not going to complete Leia and Ben's story in the way it was originally planned.. but I like to think it can still have a resolution. Before we found out about repurposed footage I had tossed around ideas about how to finish the story without Carrie or Leia on screen (see the Leia in IX thread if this interests you). Even now we have repurposed footage - I don't think repurposed footage can resolve the estrangement, I think it may come down to alternative ways to tell that story IMHO.

Regarding the bolded.. this is a really interesting idea. I was only thinking about leadership in star wars yesterday!
I bought the book 'Be More Vader: Assertive thinking from the dark side' yesterday - lol it's a hoot! I might share more about this in Takodana woods.. Anyway, I bring it up because the vader dark side book is all about being a success- and the path to becoming a leader- it touches on all the baddies and dark siders to make it's point..
It struck me that there were good guys and light siders who were leaders and have great lessons to teach about leadership too - and the message of Star Wars (I'm thinking) is that the best leadership is selfless (Contrary to the vader book but whatever..) Leia was a fantastic leader, and in bloodlines she decided to run for first senator - she would have been the one person in charge of the new republic.. the important distinction here though is that she decided to try for first senator because she thought she would be best able to serve the new republic than any other contender. It was a selfless ambition, and it was a continuation of Leia's life of service.
I think Han pretended to be a bad/ selfish guy - and he too ultimately lived a life of service in some ways (Coaxium to the rebellion/ helping Luke and Leia etc.). Ben's family is full of great selfless leaders - there is Bail Organa, and Padme also.. I agree with snufkin about it coming back to 'the truth that is your family'.

Is it against Ben's nature to be the man in charge? Really interesting question! For me, I don't think so - it is more about what kind of leadership he chooses. Based on the story so far, for me I'd say Ben's time with the first order has been all about self interest (the dark side/ selfishness). I see Kylo/Ben as having joined Snoke and the first order for self centred reasons - he wanted to become more powerful so he could protect himself and stop his pain, so he could hunt down Luke and destroy him and the Jedi (in whatever form) and the resistance and all his mother had created.. It was all wrapped up in selfish reasons.. understandable.. but still in service of himself and his own needs- I think this selfishness is against Ben's true nature - the light and selflessness that is in him and which he has found impossible to extinguish.. The dark is unsatisfying, and it never brings peace. So being a dark sider leader I guess is not in his nature.. but being a balanced leader is probably where his sweet spot will lie, and what he'll discover in IX.

It's really trippy, some people are saying it looks the Capitol of the Hunger Games, or an unironic Canto Bight.

Where are Daisy and Adam? I hope John posts a picture of them too!

Maybe Daisy is at the bar making drinks like the wrap party for TLJ. (Gosh, it feels like that one just happened! Remember all the panda/ying yang symbols??)

@giaciak2 Ben's story in the ST seems to be a variation on a coming-of-age story, and it makes very little sense for a character with this sort of arc to grow up and wise up and then immediately die.

Boys/Girls, I saw this. I write a Fan fic where trees are essential. In all trilogies there were trees to represent (the tree of life) sometimes the tree was symbolic. Generally the trees stood near the couples, almost always near Leia and Han. But also Sara Bay (mother of Poe) leaves for search a uneti tree with Luke. The tree represented the connection to the cosmic Force but in some way also to life and to love. There was a tree also in TFA ... many trees in Tokodana forest when Rey and Kylo meet. There was a tree on Anch-To a burning tree. That tree represented the ancient Jedi wisdom ... in my Reylo Fan FIC ... that tree is replanted by Rey and Kylo. Casually it makes purple flowers that is the color of blue and red mixed. Now this tree with purple leaves reminded me of my idea ... look photo
