I read somewhere he was 'ready to move on' or words to that effect, but they might have misquoted him.

Fact is, apart from a few 'reylo is abusive' and 'we hate him because he killed Han' individuals who got other forums, Kylo was the most popular character in the ST. Most people aren't invested in the Trio, despite Disney pushing them in comics et al. Disney have made the worst mistake in their commercial lives giving Abrams and Terrio free reign to push their fanfiction on screen.
And I have no sympathy for them.

He probably is ready to move on from SW, but that’s not necessarily the same as “wants nothing to do with the franchise”, which implies a very strong negative emotion. It’s like, when I changed a job it wasn’t because I wanted nothing to do with my old work which was generally a good experience with nice people, I was just ready to do something else.

I'd love to see him play Ben/Kylo again, but in all honesty I'm not sure of seeing him with Rey......her character is forever tainted for me post TROS.
'She could never love Kylo Ren'......yeah, right. I guess a broken damaged young man simply isn't good enough for Palpatine's granddaughter.

Right now, it seems like it's Disney who wants nothing to do with the ST and its cast. I think they know they mucked it up, they just don't really care why.

I just wish they'd keep their greedy paws off every franchise going, they own SW, Marvel and Pixar. What next?

More evidence of the monetary power of Kylo, as the collected paperback of the comic just came out two days ago.

You know, they are going to have to resurrect this character. And I'm serious.
They've not just shot themselves in the foot killing him off, they have made a massive financial error of judgement. Thanks to Covid19 theyv lost out regarding the theme parks, but one big source of entertainment during lockdown on rainy days is reading.
I doubt very much if all this 'Trio' c*** is going to sell. I've noticed on Tumblr that I'm not the only one who has 'gone off' Rey as a character. Yet everything about Kylo Ren is selling like hot cakes.
There's only so much they can tell about his early years.
Ben Solo has to return.

I feel like they did a good chunk of his early days in this comic, especially as it directly connects to the ST. Even the amount of trio stuff they're making is limited.

If they gave it a rest of some years, let the immediate anger simmer down, let some people get nostalgic for the parts they like, eventually end up with new management, maybe more bits about the production of TROS/the ST leak out, do other movies and shows before that, they might get to a place where they could or would revive Ben Solo. I'm sure it would cause a stir by the people who hate him, or think he embodies whatever terrible real life evil, or are just tired of SW characters coming back from the dead (Palpatine, Maul, etc.), but if it happened way off in the future, it wouldn't seem like kneejerk damage control.

Regarding those who hate him, I'm tired of DLF pandering to haters.

And maybe by then, those who hate him will have grown up a bit and developed an ability to deal with subtlety and grey areas in life. I mean, there are people who will never grow up, but one can hope.

There was something like a red thread, at least for me, from TFA to TLJ, including the books an the standalone movies.
And then came TROS and ruined everything. What a shame.

As a shipper I loved the kiss and the validation of reylo lol but yeah I think Jenny has a good point, it feels irrelevant the way they did it. Like they kiss and he immediately dies, Rey looks confused and then the next scene she's fine and having a ultimately happy reunion with her friends. It fails to even deliver on the tragedy because she doesn't mourn and he isn't even mentioned again. It was really an opportunity for LF to deliver a Han/Leia level of iconic couple in their trilogy and they completely wasted it.

Jenny speaketh the truth. Especially that emoji depiction of Rey's reaction. JJ was really cut it short so that he could get to Rey Skywokka moment.

"Wow that's his wife" is what it was like to see the OT movies as they were released over 7 years with Han and Leia bickering in the detention block to eventually they're together. Same with the pivot of Vader introduced as an inhuman face of evil who's eventually revealed to be the victim of his own hubris and an implied tragic love affair and then saves himself/restores his humanity through rediscovering the part of him that's capable of love. Part of me thinks TRoS is JJ engaging in some guilty middle aged fanboy historic revision thanks to Slave Leia by making both her and Rey into the blandest EU era type of Jedi and killing off Rey's bad boy love interest lest there be any accusations of treating her like a somebody girlfriend or not passing the Bechdel Test. It also kind of underhands George Lucas' philosophies about compassion, love, and spirituality which underly both the OT and PT, but the fanboys have always hated/been uncomfortable with that part.

Honestly LFL can put out as many supposed story meeting transcripts from the early days of the project where they claim that the point of Rey was "anybody can be a Skywalker" and that the character of Ben was when they merged the Jedi Killer w/the Solo son and decided welp he has to pay for being naughty. I's just too bad that nobody was in the room with the authority to point out how each was a genuinely bad decision to make for the characters/story. Especially when it really makes it look like the entire point of these characters was for the eventual rollout of an overpriced mediocre theme park and roller coaster ride.

Absolutely spot on, and why the new Trio is so dull. They're surplus to requirements, because JJ has made Rey into someone who doesn't just not need a boyfriend - she doesn't need anyone.
Ultimately, the end shot of her alone sums it up perfectly - when she has herself, she wants for nothing and no one. Hence every other character is under written and under valued, because the great Rey - needs no other in her life.
Sad to see a promising character reduced to such.

Now you think his fans will be satisfied with yet more prequels.
Well, this fan is not interested in any more 'before it happened' rubbish. Thanks to you the franchise I loved for forty two years is essentially dead in the water. What's the point of prequels when you know how it's going to end? The Skywalkers lost. The Palpatines won.
