One thing worth remembering regarding Adam and Daisy (and one of the reasons it was believed that Kylo would physically be on Ach-to) is that RJ made the decision early on to have both Adam and Daisy on set with one or the other just off camera during all the Force bond scenes to get the most authentic interactions and reactions out of them (vs. having them emote with nothing or a stand-in just reading the lines).

There’s no reason for JJ to change that up since it worked so well for TLJ. Presuming the Force bond is still in effect it’s going to create a lot of potentially “off” spoilers and rumors for IX about Kylo and Rey since there’s no way to tell what is and isn’t a Force bond scene vs. an actual face-to-face one (call sheets would be useless for distinguishing those, you’d need someone on set or with access to dailies to determine that and the number of suspects if there is such a leak is obviously smaller and easier to ferret out).

Frankly, if I were JJ and wanted to surprise people, I’d leak a “Force bond still in effect” spoiler, then actually have Rey and Kylo spend most of the film physically together. All the usual suspects would presume practically every scene is Force bond related and so completely misread what’s actually happening.

Abrams, along with casting director Nina Gold, who has worked on both Episode VII and Episode VIII, are searching for a female lead, 40-50 years old, to play the role of “MARA.” It’s common practice for film’s to use code names during the casting process, and that could be the case here. To be clear, we’re only able to confirm that they are looking to fill the role of a female lead who they are calling “MARA.”

Grain of salt taken, but they've built some cautiously optimistic credibility so far.

It's interesting that Rey will be there for the FG Luke scenes. Honestly, I would have predicted that he'd only be in a (pivotal) scene or two, and likely only appearing to Kylo.

I'm intrigued about the "The set for the scene is being specifically constructed for Hamill, Ridley and Driver" mention. So, if true, is this a mystical set? World Between Worlds? Some other Force world?

As a huge aside: This is silly - but I've had this ongoing thought - anyone recall the original Star Trek movie, when the two characters merged due to Vger (haha Voyager) - as Wikipedia entry says "Realizing that the machine wants to merge with its creator, Decker offers himself to V'Ger; he merges with the Ilia probe and V'Ger, creating a new form of life that disappears into another dimension." Anyway, I've had this ongoing thought something like that will happen with Ben and Rey (perhaps even before a sacrifice, come back to life scene for Ben, if there is one) -and not in the end of the IX, but as they are learning of their powers with the Force...a 'modern' Prime Jedi concept. That is a scene that has always been in the back of my mind of something I will always remember from movies (for some reason, it really had an impression)...and now all of a sudden, thinking about it a lot. J.J. is obviously a Star Trek fan too...so...maybe?? Very Happy

I wonder if it's because Luke didn't end on good terms with Rey either, at least the last time they saw each other in person. Luke will probably admit he was wrong and Rey was right about Kylo and the Jedi.

Otherwise their interactions ended with Rey knocking Luke down and yelling at him, and Luke being angry and disgusted with Rey. There needs to be an actual passing of the torch here for this trilogy to work.

I'm a little conflicted about FG Luke, because on one hand I would like to see him really sorry and serious this time and I want a moving scene with Ben. But at the same time I'd love to see some fun moments, with Luke as a sort of Cupid trying to get Rey and Ben back together Twisted Evil

R2D2 is at the heart of the skywalker saga.. I think he will stick with Rey and be reunited with Kylo/Ben in IX for sure..

The Hashtag Show has always been reliable with casting news only but the rest not so much. However, I give it to that unnamed source that he is specific that " The set for the scene is being specifically constructed for Hamill, Ridley and Driver.” and that's why I think there's something to that rumor.

Probably! So Mark wasn't in London last week.. Luke might not be as prominent In IX which make sense now that he is a force ghost.

So Mark is heading to Pinewood now, interesting. Daisy is probably still there, and until Adam is spotted somewhere else (he's good at laying low though), he's probably still in London too. The way that spoiler is so specific and worded kind of reminds me of Bothan Spy. The legit leaks tend to be very small and usually quite specific in detail. If Mark is heading there now, they would have been constructing/prepping that set in the last few days/weeks as well.

Either way, whether this rumour is real or not, the fact that Mark is heading over so early is pretty intriguing as many figured he would film later on, particularly as JJ likes to film in sequence. Sets up some interesting possibilities for the film. Another thing to consider: it's highly unlikely that Luke will be in scenes with anyone other than Kylo or Rey, given he's a force ghost now. With his parting words in TLJ, he's guaranteed to have some interaction with Kylo. If Mark is heading over now to film for Luke, it means they'll probably be shooting a Kylo scene soon.

I know it's not a new theory, but my being new to this causes me to be late to things/mentioning it, yet that one theory circulating around a couple of years ago, maybe it's true - that BB8 was originally Ben's droid, perhaps built by Ben....so maybe he will be in a scene with Rey and Ben/Kylo?
