- Snoke is Hoth.
- Spoiler:

Close. Snoke is actually from Hoth. Episode IX will lead Luke, Rey, and the Resistance to Hoth, where they search for Snoke. It turns out Snoke can actually assimilate any organism in the galaxy, and in turn imitate them. Snoke slowly causes panic and fear amongst the Resistance group on Hoth, before Rey is the last one standing. She yells, "**** you too!" at Snoke, before throwing a thermal detonator at him, blowing him to bits.
I came up with this myself.
[–]ColtonCM 5 points 6 hours ago
That's the plot of The Thing.
[–]JelicityFonesMaster Speculator 5 points 6 hours ago
No it's not I wrote it.
John Carpenter stole it from me.
Sounds pretty legit, guys.

Re: AFTERMATH: EMPIRE'S END (Countdown, Speculation, Reviews, Spoilers)
This is one of the quotes posted by a leaker on Reddit, and I wonder...
- Spoiler:
- And now they have dropped into the core of this world. With the well open, that energy will vent. So begins the chain reaction that will destroy everything. The planet will soon begin to crack. It shall break apart. It'll swallow the empire and the new Republic feets and soldiers while. When it does it will leave this galaxy to the scavengers and the scum, rotting like a fruit lying forgotten in the dirt. Though an idle thought troubles him: all fruit, no matter how rotten, can leave behind seeds.
Can't wait to get the book so I can see the proper context, but... this happens on Jakku. Is it just the conspiracy theorist in me that thinks the "idle thought" is hinting that Rey comes from rotten seed, so to speak?

Spoilers are legit, I don't know what everyone is talking about. Read posts by Veeisrad and Puhaul:

And, yes, Jar Jar redemption is hilarious.

I'm wondering the same thing myself- about Rey having dark origins.
These lines from Aftermath sound like something I've read in the old Indian epic, the Mahabharata. What makes this interesting is that Jessika Pava's placeholder name in Jason Fry's novel 'Weapon of a Jedi' was Draupadi Pava. Draupadi was a character from this epic.
There are two scenarios which could work here based on this epic:
1. In one scenario, a woman wants revenge on a man but cannot kill him in her life time despite gaining immense spiritual powers. So she flings herself into a fire and is reborn a man and finally shoots the fatal arrow that finally kills the man (I've simplified the story a lot- her reincarnation has all sorts of emotional struggles)
- This could work well for a Palpatine or Rax's clone scenario.
2. A king is insulted by a neighboring royal family so he decides that the family who insulted him needs to be destroyed. So he conducts a giant sacrificial fire ritual and from the flames a beautiful girl is born. She later marries into the neighboring royal family and is one of the reasons for a huge war which wipes out most of the family. Again, she doesn't come out unscathed and suffers terrible losses as well.
- This could work if the dark side adepts were using sith alchemy to create their own chosen one but something went wrong and she was abandoned on Jakku.

- I read a theory elsewhere that Ben's fall might have been caused by Rey's parents if they were involved in releasing Snoke. It would fit the timeline, and ... OMFG. If this turns out to be the case, then THERE IT IS, a massive, glaring incentive for Rey to want to redeem Ben and destroy Snoke. This would be a good, solid motivation for Rey to give a damn about Ben WITHOUT being related. It ties EVERYTHING together into a neat bow - her parentage, her abandonment, Jakku's relevance, who is Snoke/where he came from, Ben's downfall, why Rey's feelings about him will change. I just...*faints*

Re: AFTERMATH: EMPIRE'S END (Countdown, Speculation, Reviews, Spoilers)
I'am completely unable to speculate today about Snoke after I saw those gifs from Girls.
Nevertheless:
Nevertheless:
- Spoiler:
- He is in there with Tashu, he sees a gift that Palpatine left for him, a "broken Shah-tezh board. It lies shattered on the floor in halves. All around it are the pieces, also broken. Only two pieces remain: the imperator and the outcast. He wonders, is that how Palpatine saw him? As the outcast? This is new. Gallius never knew that. It hits him like a slap to the face."
"His role was never to preserve the empire but to destroy it."
"Whatever Palpatine thought of him before, he is no longer the outcast. Rax has become the imperator"
Then they continue to walk until they come to a well.
"The well is a channel bored through the schist and mantle of jakku, drilled so deep it touches the center of the world. The well flows with wisps of blue must winding up through orange firelight. The light pulses and throbs like a living thing."
Palpatine told him that jakku was overgrown with green and home to oceans. "He said that though the surface e of the world no longer shows it, the core still has that vital spark of like essence (and he added "that essence disgusts me"
Tashu starts admiring the artifacts in the observatory.
Rax lies to Tashu telling him that they are there to reincarclnate Palpatine. So Rax helps Tashu put on a mask that has eyes of blood red kyber crystals and a Lance. And then he hands Tashu a holocron.
Tashu then feels the dark side of the force "all the death and disoair of the world is filtering through me. I can feel it on the back of my tongue. Captured there like a struggling moth"
Rax then brings Tashu by the well and throws him into "the most and the light" of the well. Causing a "fierce growl" as the world shudders. And adds that "Palpatine was right. The artifacts contain a great deal of energy.".
"And now they have dropped into the core of this world. With the well open, that energy will vent. So begins the chain reaction that will destroy everything. The planet will soon begin to crack. It shall break apart. It'll swallow the empire and the new Republic feets and soldiers while. Then enters Sloane

- Oh, I don't know, maybe? Snoke looks ancient, I mean... he sort of resembles a corpse and appears to have scars from what should have been fatal wounds. I'm thinking he's someone who might have cheated death or unnaturally extended his life. Perhaps he was banished at one point and the Imperials on Jakku managed to unleash him again. Kylo's lightsaber is unusual and described as being made by an ancient design and I wonder if Snoke had something to do with that.

I LOVE that theory. It certainly would tie everything together neatly into a little bow.
So...I haven't read anything one way or another, as far as whether Ben ends up being born on Jakku/during the battle of Jakku. However, I've got my own crack theory, assuming that Ben was born on Jakku...
I recalled Pablo saying a while back that time moves at a different pace on force-strong planets, like Dagobah. I wonder if it's at all possible that Rey and Ben were both born on Jakku around the same time, and whatever force/strange things going on on Jakku created a bond between them. However, since Rey never left Jakku, she aged more slowly than Ben and appears to be ~10 years younger than he is. Total crack, I know, but I was trying to come up with a way for her and Ben to have a pre-existing connection if they haven't met before. (Granted, I think that the most likely explanation is probably some combination of a prophecy/dreams/visions.)

- Spoiler:
- If Rey's parents were responsible for unleashing Snoke, this explains the yin/yang of Kylo and Rey's relationship. Because, if Snoke had never come about, Rey would've been almost certainly dark side because of her parents, and Ben would've most likely stayed on the light side.
People speculate about Rey becoming dark, but it just hit me that the dark side WAS her original path in life until her parents disappeared. And since she grew up without them, and wasn't targeted like Ben, she had no evil influence in her life, and turned out good.
The fact that Rey was sleeping in a downed AT-AT? It was a giant spoiler hidden in plain sight if this is all true, and someone like Daisy, who knows who Rey's parents are, would find it incredibly obvious and be baffled that so few people seem to have figured it out.
This also makes Rey the most logical and likely redeemer of Ben Solo. If she's the daughter of Imperials who inflicted Snoke onto the galaxy, she is more tied to Ben's downfall than anyone else currently living (aside from Snoke himself).
With this kind of shocking revelation, I can't imagine Rey NOT forgiving Kylo and trying to save him.

The poetry of that is amazing. If that doesn't turn out to be the case, I have a hard time thinking of any other backstory that would tie everything together so beautifully.

It gives me actual chills, in a good way! If this is where they intend to go by giving Rey a "profoundly satisfying" backstory, then count me in as profoundly satisfied. Lol.

Man, I love this theory about Rey's parents possibly being responsible for releasing some ancient dark side evil sealed within the core of a planet. The idea of Snoke being some kind of primal evil that was hidden away for thousands of years is just perfectly satisfying, maybe by the First Jedi? I hope at least that's true. Pls. <3

It could certainly explain why Luke (and possibly Ben/Kylo) was so keen to find the first Jedi temple. Perhaps the temple has whatever information is needed to either re-seal Snoke or destroy him.

I'm glad that there seems to be a better chance that Snoke is the embodiment of some ancient dark evil, since that's been my theory for a while. And that he's been body-hopping, and Kylo is the prime target.

I like how all the theories around here are finally getting validation and attention from other sources. This is so much more satisfying than all the popular Snoke/background theories due to the way it ties things up. It's satisfying without being nostalgia pandering like ReySky/ReySolo.

Can't wait to get the book so I can see the proper context, but... this happens on Jakku. Is it just the conspiracy theorist in me that thinks the "idle thought" is hinting that Rey comes from rotten seed, so to speak?
- Spoiler:
I read a theory elsewhere that Ben's fall might have been caused by Rey's parents if they were involved in releasing Snoke.
Something else just occurred to me!
- Spoiler:
If Rey's parents were responsible for unleashing Snoke, this explains the yin/yang of Kylo and Rey's relationship.
Like literally coming from the belly of the beast. Excellent theory!

It's getting crazier...
- Spoiler:
- I finished Part 2. Not too much that was revolutionary. In summary, Jas and Norra were captured and inprisoned; Bones helped Norra, Jas saved the two of them by stealing a bounty hunter's (Mercurial Swift) ship.
There is an interesting interlude on Christophsis with the church of the force. There are some members that believe that stolen kybers need to be "returned home." One of the members questions the entire existence of the force, but is involved because his mother is one of the founders of the church of the force. This might contradict my earlier idea that the "hokey religion" Han refers to on Jakku is the CotF.
However, there was a bit of elaboration on a different religion on Jakku. A group that Rax was a part of as a child. It was quite vague, but there was a guy who had the title of "Anchorite." Yes, anchorite, not acolyte. It seems that they do believe in the force, but are not as dedicated as the members of the CotF, who seem obsessed with the jedi. They also quote a bit of the Journal of the Whills. I will include it in a second comment, because it's quite interesting. Additionally though, the interlude ends with the son of the founders saying "all hail the light, the dark, and they gray"
- Spoiler:
- There is an old Jedi temple on Devaron. There are two dozen members of the Acolytes of the Beyond. One girl, Kiza, is a young member. She mentions that there are "masters" of the Acolytes. There is elaboration on the views of the Acolytes: "The shadows cannot feel this themselves, for they are not conduits for the Force, but merely slaves to it. As are all living things. All are caught in the river of power that is the Force, trapped by its currents. Only those who wield the dark side of the Force are capable of changing those currents; they are riverbreakers. They do not surrender to fate. They are its foes."
The acolytes attacked a city one evening so that another member, Remi, could steal "a relic from a fallen Sith. A lightsaber." Only the most esteemed of the Acolytes are allowed to carry and use lightsabers. This is not an isolated attack; it is one of many across the galaxy.
Kiza contemplates her role in all of this. At this time, "a new shadow joins them. This shadow, blacker than all the others. It is their master. It is YUPE TASHU"
Tashu gives Kiza a relic. It is the mask of Viceroy Exim Panshard. "A mask made of meteoric metal and containing the screams of a hundred innocents slaughtered for the viceroy's pleasure. Masks have power. Some are worn in the grave. Others worn in life. This like the others in my collection, has gathered the darkness of the living Force! Wear it. You are anointed, Kiza of Corellia."
Tashu also grabs the lightsaber from Remi and gives it to Kiza. Remi tries to turn on her and she kills him with the blade.

- It seems that the whole galaxy is full of the various groups of force zealots, so it could be some connection to KOR but not necessary.

Ever since I read Life Debt...
- spoiler:
- I suspected that the Acolytes of the Beyond were precursors of the KoR. In Life Debt, they were obsessed with Vader relics, and there was a line about how acolytes "need to earn their masks" or something to that effect.

I don't know if I should put this in spoiler tags or not because the information comes from Aftermath: Life Debt. Anyway... The anchorites were first mentioned in that book, I think. The Plaintive Hand Plateau, the place Palpatine was excavating when Gallius Rax first encounters him as a boy, was regarded as a holy place by the anchorites. They believed it was the home of the 'Consecrated Eremite' thousands of years before when Jakku was a green, lush and vegetated planet.
There was also mention of anchorite nuns running an orphanage on Jakku.
