I admit that when I read it I thought it would be crazy too but as this article (not the one I read saying about the possibility of no opening crawl) states it served a purpose to bridge the gape between the episodes but as VIII starts immediately where TFA left off what can it really say? A recap of TFA? I guess they could start with the Rey and Luke scene (her question and his answer?) and then go into the opening crawl and have a time jump from there??

It was a rumour about the origins of the sith and jedi. A girl and a boy playing together under a tree. The boy turns to the darkside and kills the girl and but she actually lives and is the first jedi. Anyone heard of this?
It makes sense in the context of the force tree in ep 8 we already know about. Also the idea that Kylo and Rey will become allied and turn away from both Snoke and Luke in search of finding their own way (type thing). Also some of the filming sights are very eden-esque as well as the possibility of mustafar andthe Vader castle making another appearance as two contrasting locations: light side vs darkside. Its all a little on the nose for me - so I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts...?

Yep. It was a whole fake page of a "script" that included a Yoda Force Ghost that didn't even talk with Yoda's speech pattern. Presumably the whole thing was made up based around that important looking tree we've seen in some set pictures.

Iam not sure how many scenes will they even share and it is important to make it belivable as bond between them. Someone said to me that Knights of Ren and Kylo will be at Ach-To at the beginning of the movie but what if it is some sort of simulation for Rey to train by Luke? If Kylo and Rey are not family, they need at least one movie or large part of it to bond. Episode VIII seems to be a lot concentrated on Rey and Luke bond. If they're family it could be done quickly like Vader and Luke. Connection to family is stronger than with a stranger.

Luke isn't the hero anymore. The main conflict is between Rey and Ren. Tfa is a big foreshadowing. I don't think Rey will spend a lot of time with Luke

Rey might spend more time with Luke, but I think a lot of their interaction will be about Kylo. It's different now, because in TFA she basically had no idea of who Kylo was and what his connection to Han and Luke was for most of the film.

It would be interesting for Luke to go a bit dark or not be that perfect Jedi. I mean he's been on that island doing who knows what for many years. Given what happened with Kylo, Vader there's a lot of things that could make Luke different person.

Well, if Pablo told the truth, Luke was trying to convince people that his father was redeemed and Leia is still ashamed of Vader. Skywalkers are in a different emotional state of mind. Nobody would trust them

Booing and hissing is recorded but the article just speculates what it may be for. Mind you, when they remix it, it may not sound like booing and hissing at all. So it's hard to tell.

Since we know the basic outline of VIII (Ahch-to as one plot, Resistance as the other), trial is super unlikely. Type of a scenario where, lets say, Luke and Rey or just one of them bring Kylo to the Resistance and crowd cheers returning hero(es) but boo's Kylo is as possible as any "how VIII will end" speculation. I don't expect the end to be happy reunions because second movie must end with certain suspense about what will happen next. Not necessarily a cliffhanger, but you know what I mean.

But cheers and boo's could easily be for a game, for example. Lets say Dubrovnik set since they had lots of people. Or another character has a public fight and spectators pick sides.

This is very reminiscent of how the scene where the crowds shout was made for the movie Spartacus...... Smile

I wonder if the cheering and hissing could be the first order people capturing Finn, Poe, KMT (and maybe some resistance members)....if they borrow from Gunga Din, maybe the resistance will try to infiltrate a secret meeting on the tip of some influential person, are betrayed and get captured? The FO definitely have many members, judging by the large number of seats in Snoke's skype room.

I find this quote by RJ interesting because it looks like he was given a lot of creative freedom for episode VIII which I think's great since Rian clearly wasn't expecting that(it kind of reminds me of Gaeth Edwards thinking they wouldn't allow him to kill off all the charaters in RO but they did):
"What has been so wonderful about Kathy is there was a real creative freedom from the start," says Johnson. "She gave me a script for The Force Awakens and then sat down and said, 'So what happens next?' That was the last thing I was expecting."

Sorry for the doible posting but I found this bit of info also very interesting.According to the making of RTJ book Luke was originally going to take become dark and his sister who was going to be intrdocued in the next trilogy was going to redeem him.This conversation from the book between Lucas and Kasdan is also interesting and I'm really hoping we see some of Kasdan's ideas from the OT used in the ST:

Kasdan: I think you should kill Luke and have Leia take over.
Lucas: You don't want to kill Luke.
Kasdan: Okay, then kill Yoda.
Lucas: I don't want to kill Yoda. You don't have to kill people. You're a product of the 1980s. You don't go around killing people. It's not nice.
Kasdan: No, I'm not. I'm trying to give the story some kind of edge to it....
Lucas: By killing somebody, I think you alienate the audience.
Kasdan: I'm saying that the movie has more emotional weight if someone you love is lost along the way; the journey has more impact.

MSW did say that Kylo had a black cape a la vader. I wonder if these are two different sequences?

We've talked Rey's costuming before, with the addition of muted colors and grays signifying moving out of innocence/inexperience/girlhood into experience and womanhood, especially since it's form fitting. What I find interesting about the black cloak is the implication that since she's not supposed to be on Ahch-To she's consciously breaking from Luke and taking on some of Kylo's darkness to go after what's in the First Jedi Temple.
