Joking aside! All these facts look like a big puzzle! The last pieces do not leave my head: The red line of Rian and Pablo on Twitter (although there is controversy, in Japanese culture means matrimonial destination), now a trademark with the words Forces of Destiny ...

That thread thing really wasn't anything to do with Star Wars. It was a Twitter joke about people posting threads. I know speculating can be fun but let's not get carried away with stuff that has nothing to do with anything.

We wouldn't need to speculate so much if they'd just give us a few spoilers or hints right now. Or do they intend to keep everything under wraps until the Celebration 2017?! At this point I admit to being a little frustrated (and I swear if they film again within the EU I'll be there with spy glasses and a parabolic microphone ).

We got a question about this thread thing in the podcast that will be out later today, and I felt like such a party pooper for pointing out that it's nothing to do with Star Wars. I can sympathize with people who want it to mean something because we're all in the same boat being thirsty as hell for VIII spoilers.

I'm a little skeptical and I do not believe in coincidences, especially when it comes to SW. I believe in opportunities, Rian may have seen an opportunity and used it in his favor ... he seems to be someone who likes games, mainly, puzzle. I do not doubt what you said, but I will continue to wait if we will have other "coincidences".

I'm a thirsty person for more evidence! Of course we are in the same boat, so I will not rule out anything ... maybe it might be useful in the future.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade but not everything Rian posts is Star Wars related. The thread thing was definitely meant to be a joke because of all the "thread" posts that everyone's been tweeting lately. If people want to believe it's a cryptic clue about Reylo, so be it.

Indeed, all that trademarking stuff is suspicious...if that turns out to be the new title I would like it, maybe also because I'm a sappy person.

Now I know I'm looking far ahead but is everyone happy about Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly writing Episode IX from a script treatment by Rian Johnson??? They made Jurassic World together and the the sequel, but Derek Connolly also wrote the up-coming Monster Trucks and well to put it politely it does not look good.
Would you prefer - just based on previous work, for Rian Johnson to be writing Ep IX?? Rian has been involved with the new saga films before TFA was even in production. Not sure how involved Colin and Derek have been thus far.

I hate to be judgmental, but I'd be lying if I didn't say: Colin Trevorrow and his Jurrasic World co-writer Derek Connelly being responsible for writing Episode IX makes me a little nervous. Jurassic World really didn't give me much confidence and their résumés are short, I don't know what we can expect. However, I believe Disney isn't stupid, so if things aren't looking good, they'll likely address it before the movie is filmed. I also feel better knowing Rian was involved in the treatment because I think he brings a more nuanced and psychological perspective to his story telling.

I can't think of any comment anywhere (including the diehard OT fans) I've seen in support of Trevorrow. I have seen Safety Not Guaranteed (which is good), but most people base their skepticism on Jurassic World. Which besides the stereotypical "uptight career gal who learns to loosen up thanks to total bro" character also killed off a supporting female character in horrifying, lurid detail. Besides it being an example of using a previous franchise to create a product line. So most people are skeptical to say the least. Let's hope that the screenplay does get input from Johnson (who wrote the story for the rest of trilogy), as well as Lawrence Kasdan and we'd guess Carrie Fisher. Supposedly Guillermo del Toro turned down an offer from Lucasfilm, which breaks my heart. He would've been amazing.

Honestly? I wish Rian were writing AND directing IX.
I have no reason to be biased against Trevorrow myself, because I've never seen any of his work. But based on what I've read about his track record (with Jurassic World specifically), I'm baffled why exactly Lucasfilm chose him. But you never know, he might rise to the occasion and direct the best film of his entire career.
If RO really is as good as they're saying, LF seem to know exactly what they're doing and TFA was no fluke... so either way I'm confident IX will turn out to be a good film, even if it takes extensive reshoots to get there.

Re: ARCHIVE: Discussion: Spoilers/Rumors - 12
I have more faith in Trevorrow after a podcast with Jurassic Outpost where he goes into details about the film and admits it was a popcorn film. The sequel is looking at deeper morality issues with the humans and the ethnics of making dinos, also the human/dinosaur relationship on new levels ( not like that ) Honestly the supporting chick's death is pretty tame compared to Dieter and the compies ( also the only female death in the series at all ) which is also drawn out and actually features blood. It bugged me a bit at first, but then I watched Dieter and the compies again. I felt like they kinda needed a female death in the series so it didn't seem like women had some sort of anti dino shield. Trevorrow did admit it was for the shock ala old Amblin ( think Indie heart ripping )
He wouldn't be my first pick, but I think there's more to him than people think.

Haven't seen any of Trevorrow's work either (Jurassic Park never interested me tbh). But I do have faith in the people overlooking the proceedings and making sure everything turns out to be at least great.
After all J. J. Abrams casting two rookies as main characters turned out alright as well (even with a not-quite-ideal start, if Abrams calling Ridley's acting "wooden" is any indicator). But frankly, in the film industry, everyone is easily replaced - that counts for both actors and directors. I doubt Lucasfilms would have any trouble getting the applications of good directors should they decide to hit the big red emergency button.

I must admit I'm apprehensive about Colin Trevorrow being responsible for the last film, given the female characters in Jurassic World. Rey is such a tough, determined character, it would be criminal to 'feminise' (for which read: diminish to the kind of girlish helplessness that is comfortable for certain kinds of men) her warrior qualities.

The gruesome death in Jurassic World didn't bother me, but the treatment of the main female character did. It was like, the movie pretended that it was about Claire's work vs family, but it was really about her being redeemed for finally recognising the sheer awesomeness of Chris Pratt's character. Did she actually bond with her nephews in any meaningful way? Nope, because they're too busy hero-worshipping Owen. What's most worrying though is that, judging by what I've read, Trevorrow was completely taken by surprise with the criticism and genuinely thought he was doing a movie about a strong female character. Baaaarf.

Oh boy, rant incoming.
I am terrified of Colin Trevorrow being at the helm of 9. This has been nagging at me from the moment I found out about it. I'm not going to say it keeps me up at night, but it does pop into my head at random times, just like some other unsavory facts of life. Hot dogs contain snouts and other icky parts. John Lennon was actually not a very a nice man in his personal life. Colin Trevorrow is writing and directing episode 9.
Yes, I am worried about this. I'm not one to mess with people's livelihood, but if there is a petition to remove him from 9 I immediately sign it, and if there are Tweets advocating for him to get the boot I like and retweet.
The way that women were dealt with in Jurassic World is cringe-inducing. Not just the eternally sobbing mom, the way the assistant was characterized and then savaged in the most violent and over the top death of any character in any Jurassic Park feature (and first ever death of a woman) - it was so random and vitriolic that it really made me wonder whether she was meant to be someone who had crossed Trevorrow in RL. Creepy stuff.
And then there's Bryce Dallas Howard's character. Obnoxious and tragically frigid boss lady whose ability to outrun T-Rexes in 3-inch stilettos eventually saves the day. That alone is eye-roll inducing to me, but the way they greased up the actress and tore up her skirt struck me as just degrading not just to the character but to me as a woman. I'm not usually offended by things that fail to meet a feminist standard, but Jurassic World has, to me, very clear misogynistic undertones that speak volumes, and that struck me and angered me on a very deep personal level. With that precedent I am worried about what Trevorrow's involvement in 9 portends. I am worried about what it will mean for the story, for the characterization of Rey and other women in the episode, for the dynamics between the characters, for the fandom.
For that reason I was very encouraged by hearing that the filming of 9 will begin much earlier than expected or required, and I'm hoping that this is Disney's way of keeping its options open in case Trevorrow doesn't pan out. Maybe Rian Johnson will step in at that point, or even J.J. Or the Rogue One director, idk. I just hope they have a hero on standby.

Really? Wow, I didn't know Trevorrow actually thought he created a strong female character with Claire. Scary. To me, it looked like he hadn't considered how she would be perceived at all. You pretty much described the issues I had with her character.

Treverrow needs serious work with female characters, but Zara's death was pure Amblin ( he admits this in aforementioned Pod ) shock value ( also the compies and poor Eddie Carr getting ripped in half were worse ) She just happened to be a poorly characterized woman ( which wasn't unique in the film )
